My postcode is EDIT: whoops I shouldn't have posted that. Have pmed you it instead!
I spoke to someone last night who has bred and sold these newts, and he said the best bet is royal mail special (next day) delivery. It costs about a fiver and I will be more than happy to pay you that, plus extra for your trouble. Let me know if you're comfortable going down that route and we can rehome the little guys. ![]() Last edited by peacockharris; 02-04-2008 at 04:12 PM. |

No probs. Let me know if you reconsider/find something cheapish. What were the prices you did find?
As for royal mail being unsafe, I think next day delivery would be just as safe as any other courier you'd find. They're not a tropical species and so do not need specialized insulated packages or heat packs, and they'd only be in transit for less than a day. I'm just as concerned about their safety as you are. I wouldn't want any animal coming to harm. The guy I spoke to has sent youngsters through royal mail special delivery in the past and had no problems. (I think his name on these forums is diddy_d but I can't be 100% sure) In any case, I hope you find them a good home, and I'm always here if you reconsider. I have all the required equipment set up ready to keep this species at optimal conditions (cool temps etc). All the best, Rhodri |

Reptile taxi and gremlin rides are the only animal transport guys i know of after TNT. think you'll be looking at about 50 for everything to be diliverd to you by hand. If you drop them a message on this site with both post codes they can give you a price.

Dangerous? Highly unlikely in my opinion, especially when it comes to coldwater species like this who won't suffer from any chills as a result. Special Delivery packages get from A to B typically in less than 20 hours, and if you mark your package as 'living creatures: handle with care', the package is hardly going to be chucked about (not that it would anyway). As I said already, an experienced breeder of these newts has used it himself with good results. I firmly believe he knows his stuff. Regardless, coo_kie seems to have made her decision, although I strongly urge her to reconsider as I keep them at the correct temps. If they are kept even as high as room temperature (which is likely for the average person rehoming them) then they are susceptible to fungal infections and can die. Anyway, I'm new to these forums and don't want to get into any arguments or offend anyone. ![]() |

Hi
Looked into it and I can't send them by post, sorry hun Safe or not I wouldn't live with myself if one got hurt..i'm too soft, not saying they would but i can't risk it either. They really do need a good home and thank you to anyone who has offered, but have had to be turned down due to me not using postage as an option. I would prefer meet up or pick up and would be willing to drop off if not to far (as would need to beg for lift LOL) ![]()
