and a meesly fiver off the price doesnt change the fact that this is an appaulling situation and that by giving a fiver discount makes up for the fact that this gecko could be ill and isnt being treated cos the treatment costs more than the gecko! if you are too far away from a vet and are not willing to travel to it then i really dont think you should have any animals in the first place. if it was a £1500+ royal would you be more willing to make the journey to the vets? as for catching the gecko a little time and patience is all it needs, you got it in the viv im sure you can get it out. cricket tubs are usually good for catching fast geckos

im sorry for gettin on my high horse but i havent seen a post thats got my blood boiling like this for ages, and it makes me angry at the ignorance and stupidity of it all

all i was saying is that when you travel one hour for a vet to say something and make you buy something when(becuase there are no reptile specific vets anywher ear me just vets that 'can do' reptiles)he doesnt know what hes on about i tihnk is worse.

if it makes you any better i will even rmove the animal from the sale thats the best i can do at the current time.

what you have to realise is people are not made of money and all becuase you would do something doesnt mean I would. I like the hobby and I am into breeding however I am not like most people. This is the first animal i have ever had a problem with whether wild caught or not.

and to be honest, not being rude, but you can say all you want it doesnt mean i am going to go out and do something becuase someone on a frum told me to. if the perosn that buys the gecko(if they want) him wants to take him to a vet then grerat however he was bought in a skinny condition as my boss gave me discount as i got 2, and i doubt any amount of vet treatment will vastly imprve his condition. He is eating enough to stay alive and currently i belive that it is all that matters.

I have seen royals skinny to the bone they eat enough to stay alive, going to the vet didnt do anything for the royal so therefore it was a waste of money - at least thats what my boss said.

my boss owns a reptile shop yes and he is very good and aprt from newly imported wc animals which he tries not to get all of his are in good health. Admittedly most of is time and my time when i mam there goes into snakes but he also has a wide veriety of lizards from crocodile geckos - water monitors.

dont critisise my boss half the stock is kept round the back especially when it is new in. If you want to critisise me fine go ahead but i do not want people critisiing my friends.

did a criticise him? no, i merely asked a question. people will draw what they want from it themselves. i just find it bizarre for a reptile owner to make such a statement about " no point takin it to the vets " surely a reptile shop owner would want to take such a royal to the vets to make sure it hasnt got anything that can be passed onto the rest of his shop? even if it did the royal no good at all then at least he would know that it didnt have anything to pass onto the rest of his stock? id have thought a shop owner would be more leaning to the " it may have been a waste of money but it was worth it for the sake of my stock" style of thinkin

there isnt i drive south down the a1 towards london past the turning at buckden continue down and turn off at diddington - takes 20 mins by car
