Default New To Newts

Hey every1 after much deliberation and soul searching ive decided to get some news (i was originally set on getting a crestie but ive decided against it for now at least)

anyway i'm after some aquatic / semi aquatic newts (i like the look of fire bellies) does any1 know where i can get some in norfolk/ have them delivered.

also i have an old fish tank it 45x25x25 (cm) is this big enough for 2 or 3 newts or should i consider getting a bigger one.

finally
is there any other hints or tip people have for a first time newt owner

thanks in advance

hey that should be fine for a few newts. something like firebellied newtsor red spotted newts would be good. both are very easy to care for and cheap.

I have no idea about the second site but exotic pets I'v had no probs with. I have ordered a snake, 2 axolotls and 2frogs (the frogs arived 5mins ago infact) from it over the last couple of years and they have all arived healthy and fine. I know alot of other people dont like exotic pets so its your choice mate

a very good source of info on newts is

Caudata.org

i think the best sight for news and salamanders, their is a species list which will tell you about all the semi aquatics.

if you join their forum, the people on there have great advice and can really help.

hey every1 i have a small issue with one of my newly acquired newts one has a piece of its tail missing sadly i cant seem to get a decent photo but my guess is one of the newts mistook it tail as food and had a snap. will it be ok is there anything i should do.

sorry for the really bad drawing but it looks something like this with a bite shaped bit missing from the top of the tail. it only looks like the thin ridge bit that runs along the top of the tail is damaged tho
