Default Fire newt?

A week back we had a bonfire and the day after siving through the ashes this little smooth newt was here. Why would he want to go to the ash its both dry and hot two things i didnt think amphibeans liked?

Does seem rather odd. Maybe there were insects in the vicinity? How hot were the ashes?
