Default Substrate Clean

Guys, when cleaning your substrate out do you do an entire change of the entire substrate or just skim off a thick top layer and lay come clean stuff on top?

Is it required to do an entire substrate change on every cleanout? At the moment this is what I do but with a fairly substantial sized exo-terra viv its a timely task :-D

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts,

Robert

take off the top bit frequently then every couple of months change the lot, depending on what you have in there these frequencies can be extended.

Sounds good, its a juvenile ornata thats in thier but the substrate is quite thick. It's only been in this set of substrate about 3 weeks and its had a moss change during that period so with any luck I can get away with just a top soil change.

Thanks mate,

Robert

change the top half inch of his soil weekly and the rest of it every 2 to 3 months and if he does a turd the size of yorkshire which they are occasionally want to do, chnge the bit under that too. but they usually reserve these for the water bowl.
