That's very interesting. I have them described sometimes as "brick red" or "red-brown", but that is quite a crimson colour, almost. There is a picture in the European guide by the Nöllerts of a red/rust-coloured specimen, but it had grey patches as well. This one seems pretty much the same colour all over.
I'd suggest keeping an eye on it and maybe forwarding the picture to FrogLife, the British Herpetological Society or similar body. Might be a relatively unknown morph or phase. Apart from that it looks healthy enough - the eye is the right colour and there is no sign of the ghastly fly parasites around the nostrils. Let's hope it does OK! |

oh lord,i will have to go and see if he is there in the morning!!!
and remove him to somewhere safer, as if the chooks see him he will be history! the garden path is on a slope and the hollow goes right in underneath it.. he could be anywhere now lol will have to keep eyes out for others.. pics are not enhanced at all either.. were taken around 7-8pm this eveing he is funky eh.. he blended in suprisingly well with the ground cover when i lifted the fence off him earlier.. N |
