1. about £10.00 seems about average.
2. you need a viv, sticks. some foliage. a water bowl, some substrate (although some keepers prefer none), a sprayer heat mats, 3. get medium browns/blacks(although blacks are EVIL 4. pretty hardy really. can get obese though which is not good on the heart/liver. 5. rain chamber? and you need one, why? for breeding? 6. always gut load crickets. vitamins every other feed. hope this helps.. |

i find it strange when people ask questions like the ones in this topic how bout researching first checking pet shop price list etc and maybe checking afew different caresheets it might help before asking quwstions on ere its abit lazy like init

Vixen,
The point of a forum is to post questions and share personal experiences and information, so there is no harm in asking simple questions. Although care sheets may provide a point of reference they are not always realiable and so it is a good idea to ask other keepers. Have you ever heard of 'If you've got nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all.' I see that you have 6 whites of your own, so how about using some of your own experience and knowledge to help those who ask for it rather than shooting them down in flames? A little-miss-know-all attitude is both unfriendly and not at all useful. Hannah |

I agree!
anyway... I paid 10.00 for my baby, but 15.00 each for my normal subadults. saying that, i had to pay 15.00 delivery on the baby and nothing on the others! it all works out. You will need a 20gallon tank for 1, and 10gallons extra for each additional frog, so 30gallons for 2, 40 for 3 etc etc. When they;re small you can get away with smaller but they do like to jump and climb. you;ll also need kitchen towel as substrate when theyre young, no loose substrate as they can eat it when they are hunting and get impacted. Once theyre bigger I use rocks with live moss attached. you'll need a water dish, thermometer and hygrometer, heat mat/lamp (lamps are a bit drying in my experience) something to keep the crickets in (i.e. tupperware box, or a faunarium) you'll need water conditioner (droplets to take chlorine etc out of the tap water), i always have a few bottles of reptile safe disinfectant handy for cleaning the tank, you;ll need decorations for the tank for them to climb on and hide behind (i.e. wood or plants) you'll want some aqaurium background or similar to cover 3 sides of the tank (on the outside) to make them feel secure, you;ll want cricket dust (i use 'treefrog dust', its got everything including D3) Definatly get brown crickets. Black remind me of roaches, and live FOREVER so if it gets loose its a pain. Only disease/ailment to look out for is Redleg. You;ll see the underside and legs go red and if its advanced you;ll get sores etc. They get it from unclean conditions and its bacterial or fungal so it IS contageous. you can get a product called melafix which you dilute down and bathe them in if you catch it quick enough. If you keep the tank and clean then you wont have a problem but i always keep an eye on mine to make sure. Obesity is a problem, dont feed them too many waxworms (fatty). The main killer is impaction. If you feed them food too large (bigger than width of the head), the wrong food (i.e. mealworms are too chitinous to easuly digest and can lead to problems) or have loose substrate i.e. gravel, small bark, sand (god forbid) then they can get impacted and die. Symptons are loss of appetite and lack of stools. Only real cure... get to a vet. I woulnt worry about a rain chambver unless you want to breed, and i know nothing about those Always dust your crickets, its important to get them calcium and D3, but you must gutload or else the cricket has not real nutritional value - it is what it eats. I feed mine potato and other veg. keeps them alive longer too If you want more advice, and a really long caresheet (lol) go to my website http://s-chaplin101.tripod.com and follow through the Art-Gecko links until you get to the reptile information then treefrogs pages. Hope i helped
