Default poison dart frog

i know it sounds a really stupid question but are poison dart frogs atually poisonous. If saw do they cause and harm to humans and can they be handdled.

captive bred ones aren't. Most wild caught ones will lose their toxicity after a while in captivity. Its their wild prey which makes them poisonous

not poison in captivity, but are in wild, stuff they eat in the wild makes them poisonousnever in here, and dont now much about frogs, but think thats right!

have you not owned any sort of frog before?

If you havent kept dart frogs before Dendrobates leucomelas or bumble bee dart frogs are nice easy frogs. Dendrobates auratus are also quite easy you can pick these up for between £30-£40 !

the blue dart frog Dendrobates Azureus is not too bad to keep, but has a large price tag. usually around the 70 plus mark. try Dartfrog - Everything for the Amphibian Keeper he usually has these in stock. I got my leucomelas from there and they were fantastic.

To be honest, if its your first frog, its probably better to get something like a whites, just so you can get the experience of heat, humidity maintainence etc
