Wink African Clawed...

Can someone explain to me why my African Clawed whistles??!!!
He spends most of the day croaking and generally trying to get attention but when he gets excited (like at tea time!) he starts whistling!!! He sounds a bit like a Clanger! I've never come across this before and was wondering if anyone else had!!
He's not sick or anything - he's just always kinda whistled!!
I got him as a froglet and have spoiled him a bit (well, as much as you can spoil an aquatic frog!) - he's been hand fed in the water since he was little and he actually comes to the front of the tank when you shout his name (whether he actually knows his name or whether he just hears a voice and thinks "food" is another matter altogether!!).
Anyway, after about two or three weeks of having him he just started whistling when he got excited!
I asked my vet about it because I thought they were just meant to croak but my vet said he's obviuosly just special!!
Would be nice to know if anyone else's ACF makes strange noises!!!

Eh poked the parent about it, apparently they used to sing in the old house..... Hmmm ive read in my book about it, but it says nothing. Mayby its just a happy thing, or maybe calling for a mate? Im unsure if it was our male who used to do it... May lower their water and bring it back up so he thinks its breeding time... And see if this induces the singing, if not lol then no idea, but maybe will get spawn (i hope) xD as by the look of it they may die soon due to age. And i don't really fancy searching for more << or having to go back into toad hall D: and save some poor baby's .

Awrr xD cute name.

Yeah i hope they dont too but they where turning into little toads on my second birthday -sniffs- sooo they shall be 16 this year o.o.... Lol they lasted past their life span xD and they actually have not slowed down atall << soo despite what books say lol, i think i may have them a few more years. Ill let you know how spawning goes ^^, and shall see if more than 12 survive this time the water went off because of a heat wave with the last lot D: And the poor things where all on the surface gasping for air while we franticly tried to change water. I hope alot more survive this time XD anddd then ill have luffy frogs for many more years xD and get an even bigger setup for them

Ah... soo it is a mating call .... But that means if ours did breed then they ate the spawn -headdesk-

And xD Pin..... Had a look at the new tank they are in its not going to be possible to breeed them, the water level has to be a certain height or the pump does not work . May just go back to the university.... And get some spawn from toad hall -shudders- and save some more little lives.

Aww, no way That's a shame... I'd have liked to have bred mine but the female died last year and since then the male has been quite happy on his own... In fact he seems to think I'm a frog!! But I AM a bit mental and spend hours talking to him a day! Lol!! It's cool to save lives though so getting spawn from the uni is a fab thing to do!!! In fact, it makes you super-cool!!

Anyway, I didn't realise whistling was a mating call - I thought they just croaked!! That's pretty neat really!!
