I have UV in the shop for all the tree frogs but 2% and to be honest, it's mostly for lighting for the customers to see than for the frogs themselves.. I would rather use UV for lighting than a basking bulb that's going to get too hot and dry out the viv (i use exo terras)

Yea ive seen too many people use a basking bulb and have the frog dry out. I also use a heatmat, although they dont warm the air much, i find that ambient temps stay around room temp which is fine for them, and then if they want they can go and sit near the mat if their cold.

I only use low powered UV because i have read reports and journals investigating the effects of high UVB levels on amphibs and they found that it reduced the hatch rate of the spawn, so i tend to err on the side of caution. The UV i have is really just for my plants lol

Handling:

Whites are the most handlable of treefrogs, but they arnt really for 'playing with'. I have reptile safe spray disinfectant that i spray on my hands before touching them as their skin is v.sensitive to oils and soaps etc. People say they don't like handling and that you shouldnt do it unless necessary, but from my personal experiences thats rubbish, 2 of my 3 Whites actually come to the front of the viv if im near it, and when i put my hand in they jump on it and sit there! Now tell me they hate handling?! lol My male isnt so fussed about it though and wont come to me unless there's food so i guess its all personality.

You can house as many of the different sexes together as you want and their 'shouldnt' be a problem, they dont seem to be gender aggresive like alot of lizards and things, so it shouldnt matter what sexes you combine as long as they have enough room. I have 2 females and a male, and i know others with all males, or all females with no problems!

Good luck!

Houllier my oldest female says hi!!
