Default My new Spanish Ribbed newts

I got these 2 newts (Pleurodeles waltl) (about 2 inches long, thus just over with the larval stage) from a local pet shop in which they were kept in a water bowl in a terrarium also housing Chinese geckos

Adults are about 10-12 inches long and should be housed in a 20 gallon aquarium with a lot of live aquatic plants. They will eat everything that moves ,from thawed bloodworms to bits of chicken, earthworms, and even some greeneries.I paid € 30 for the two of them,i.e. £20.These newts are found across Spain,Portugal and Morocco in all kinds of freshwater and even slightly salted water, they can tolerate high levels of water pollution and are really hardy pets.Water temps are from low 60s to low 70s according to the season.A filter should be placed in the tank as well as some "islands" (rocks, floating bark) to enable them to go and breathe in the surface
