yer same as with lizard different species in different tanks. as you get cross breading, canabilisation if size variations and the passing of disease etc.

its not recomanded, but it depends on the animals being mixed and your opinions. I have a tank of various reed frogs, of different sub species, many people frown on that, but since they are the same family and i dont plan on incubating the eggs if any are preduced, therefore no cross breading, i dont see a problem.

But it depends alot on the frogs you are keeping, the possiable diseases and size of the frogs. Frogs are a difficult animal to keep healthy as it is, let alone numerious communial species however it is possiable if you are careful and depending on species and if you wish to breed.

I dont keep dart frog personaly and have limited knowledge on them. But i would say no. The reson being that cross breading between various dart frogs is extremtly frowned upon. There are also size difference between various dartfrog species which can often lead to aggression between them.

amphibs are pretty much the worst candidates for mixed species vivs because their skin is semipermeable and so is very sensitive to what it comes into contact with. all amphibians produce toxins in their skin, most not very strong but all do and would not be good for another species to come into contact with for an extended period of time. There's also all the normal issues of mixed species vivs like aggression and disease but all magnified because of how sensitive they are. unfortunatly alot of the time you see mixed sp. vivs with frogs in its because alot of tree frogs (like the US green for example) are cheap and seen as a bit disposable, like lots of people buy anoles cause theyre cheap and it doesnt matter to them if they die. Obviously not all people who keep the cheaper treefrogs and anoles buy them for that reason but im just saying thats an attraction for some people who just want another species to pop in their viv.

Some dartfrog species can be kept successfully together, as long as you dont hatch out any spawn they produce, and i think its the closely related ones that work. but ive no experience keeping darts just read about them. As with Reed frogs, alot of people keep multiple sub-species together (like Jay) because alot of the reed frog sub species arnt even classified! their are tonnes of them and shops order in 'reed frogs' and its pot luck what species you get.

I know some people on here keep mixed amphib species vivs and its their personal choice, and sometimes it seems to work well, but its not something thats generally advised because its a lot of work and more often than not will go very wrong

Mixing darts is very much frowned upon for various reasons. Firstly inbreeding as a number of the more popular and readily available species will interbreed. Apart from that darts stress fairly easily and in many species high levels of territoriality are exhibited, sometimes by the males and sometimes the females that can stress other frogs in the viv to the point of death. This is not always obvious as they can quite often drop with no warning.

For these reasons, darts are usually kept in single species pairs or small groups such as 1.2 or 2.1 depending on which sex is territorial in the species.

People have kept mixed tanks with some success but it is not recommended unless you have a fair bit of experience and can provide a suitably large enclosure.
