Default Suitable size viv for breeding darts?

Hi can anyone tell me what a suitable size viv would be for a mix of dart frogs and to breed them in there.

I am thinking of keeping darts and trying to breed a few.

Can darts be bred in a tank and then leave them to it, will they look after the youing like on life in cold blood or do you need to do anything else?

Firstly don't mix darts, they do not do well together in mixed vivs.

Second, choose your species. In pumilio the males are agressive towards each other, in tinctorius it is the females so get a single species pair or trio with this in mind.

Pumilio and other small arboreal species are fine in pairs or trios in a 45x45x60. Likewise a pair of a larger less arboreal morph would be fine in a 60x45x45.

Really, the larger you can provide the better.

I am only thinking about it at the moment but i am very interesd in keeping and breeding some kind of dart. Are there no types that can be mixed safely or mix breed to create different morphs?

Can darts be left alone when breeding or do we have to help them with the young?

The woodlice are doing great at the moment by the way thanks!

It depends on the species you want. Tinctorius are big darts and so need larger tanks. Smaller species like E.tricolor are smaller species and need less space - I have 4 in a 17 gallon tank.
Leucomelas do well in groups.
As for mixing species most people don't recommend it - you can end up stressing frogs out and fighting.
I have heard Talamancan poison frogs (Allobates talamancae) can be mixed with other species but I have never kept them.
I personally keep it one species per tank - I think you get healthier less stressed animals and they can look just as stunning
Have a good read before choosing. Pollywog has good caresheets for most speciesAllobates
talamancaellobates
talamancae

Dart tanks are so much fun to build, and so satisfying when done...
