I have a large reef tank that I leave at my parents house because I do not own a house yet and I move a lot. In their thank I have a pink cucumber that about half the size of my pinky finger and has been in there for about 5 or 6 years now. I took shots of my new pink cucumber thats about 12cm long and 3 cm wide because it just has such a brilliant and large display of its filter mouth part. plus the cucumber is in a nano reef tank where I live and it was easy to get some good pictures of it. With proper feeding of micro plankton they will live many many years. They love to sit up where the water moves through the out-take part of the filter so they are sure to get everything that passes through. Also acclimation is important with these guys. If it lives past the first week you are good to go. last night was the first time he displayed his filters sense I got him a week ago and now I will rarely see him with his filters not extended from now on.

Its still alive and well. It did move to the other side of my tank and I dont get as good of a view of it as i did before.
I just got a bright orange lankia starfish to add a little color to the tank. Ill post pictures soon as I get off my lazy but.
