looks like a bubble anemone (entacmea quadricolor) without the tips inflated which sometimes happens for no apparent reason......
....could be due to an excess of nutrient in the water as it would then not need to expand it's tips to increase the surface area for increased photosynthesis of the symbiotic zooxanthellae. just a guess. it often happens in tanks with seemingly perfect water parameters.

yeh it was a bubble tip anenome! loved the thing but marine fish are so expensive!!

yeh, that and you need to know where you're living for the next 10 years to get a good mature tank....no good if you rent a flat like me......otherwise i'd have a reef tank still
