African Pygmy Hedgehog Day 2

I have decided to keep a blog of photos/description of the hand rearing of an african pygmy hedgehog. His life is extremely unstable at the moment and chances of success are low. This is the first APH I have ever tried to hand rear.
The situation:
Mother, first litter, ate one hoglet and abandoned the other. On veterinary and breeder advice the hoglet was removed.
Course of Action:
Welpi puppy formula (warm), currently 0.3ml every 2 hours during the daytime hours, every 4 hours during the night (toiletted after feeding every feed). Kept in a small faunarium on kitchen towel shredded for nesting material, heated by a heat mat 1/3rd, to a temperature of 78F.
The odds:
Very low as it stands but they increase with every day he survives.
Day 2:
Weight 10g
His back is starting to darken although the spines are still white.

It is a shame that he only lived to barely 4 days old... but for my others from a different mom who actually looks after her babies, life is looking good!
