Maybe...

Sometimes you can; sometimes you can't.

Sometimes the babies kick a little because they don't like the light; sometimes they kick so hard that they rupture one of the egg membranes and drown themselves.

I personally would say that unless you have a desperate need to candle them, just leave them to it...

My wife candles her beardie eggs regularly to see how they are doing and has never had any problems. At five weeks you should be able to see the fully formed hatchlings just in miniture scale as they still have a fair amount of growing to do.

Quick hint - when candling eggs try to use either a purpose-build egg candler, or an LED-type light - the reason being these are designed to give off only light and not heat, which could damage the eggs. I've used an LED keyring torch (the ones designed to help you find the keyhole in the dark!) for years with no problems.

Me to i use small white L.E.D key fob with toilet tube piece of Tin foil over one end in a slight concave with small pin prick in the middle and find dark place to use be careful your eggs don't roll as this can harm them also a trick i picked up from a chicken farmer is don't candle all your eggs at once do only a few at over a piroed of week try to candle them all just once after the 5 week and up and till 2 weeks be for they hatch don't need to do all if they all look good and eggs are swelling reptile eggs grow then it good sign there be just the same this will help with stress on young eggs and temp fluctuation with having them all in and the incubator or keep opening and closing getting each one out i just leave mine once every other day i may check it and water it
