Default Frog breeding help

Hi all,

new here and this is my first post.

I have a couple of whites tree frogs which i accidently bred, apparently they liked the new tank i built quite a bit lol.

they laid the eggs and i have had 80-100 tadpoles that have survived as the water quality was not set up for them to breed in.

they are about to start popping out legs i believe and i have a buyer for them.

my questions are.......

what food would you suggest for the froglets, just curly wing flies and pinheads?

how much should i sell them for? obviously the shop will want them as cheep as poss but i want to get a fair price.

thanks in advance for your comments/advice

Default My Tank

Hi there,

My tank is custom built by me, its 4ft widex 4ft tallx 2ft deep.

The bottom of the tank is completely water about 1ft deep.

I have a thermastat controlling the temp during the day and a humidity regulator and tropical rain system to ensure its wet enough.

As for feeding i have 2 frogs which get to eat whatever the lizards dont ( i make sure there is plenty to go round)

The tank is white and i have the lights set to a 12 hour day night shift from 10-10.

My old tank was about the same size but black with more spot lights and no rain system or thermastat and a washing up bowl as a pond. they did not breed in this.

in conclusion i think a combination of extra water, a lighter brighter enviroment and better humidity controll has got them feeling more fruity.

i built the tank as we had a depressed water dragon and even she is a lot happier now, the other lizards also enjoy the water more.

The water also has a large pump and heater to keep it clean and i originally planned to but it tropical fish as decoration and so the lizards/frogs could go "fishing" if they wanted. But instead i seem to of got tadpoles lol.

hope this helps

You'll need to start them off on Hydei fruitflies & small crickets when they come out of the water and have absorbed their tails, and then move on to Curly Flies etc as they grow. Make sure you get a good amount of supplements into them right from the start. Keep the babies in small groups in small tanks rather than a big group in a big tank and they will feed better and grow better.

Thanks for the food advice, duly noted and taken onboard, i may have trouble sperating the frogs though as i dont really have another setup for them to go into, if it looks like its getting out of controll i will have to invest in more equiment.

with regards tank piccys, im not sure how to get them on here so if anyone could explain i will get some posted.

oh and im in essex if anyone wants some frogs

thanks

i have no idea if im honest, this was totally not planned.

im waiting for them to turn into frogs to check they are growing ok and have no issues then i guess im open to offers, i paid £15 each for the parents but honestly have no idea what to charge for little'uns.

when they have developed more i will put a new post up advertising them as ready to sell and we can go from there.

thanks for the interest

Do you have any probs with teh water being a foot deep? I was told taht it shuldn't be any deeper that the frogs height. Not criticising your tank as it sounds amazing! Am asking coz I like the idea of the water at the bottom
