tokays need season changes to help them get into the mood for breeding,
first they need a dry season which means only spraying them once or twice a day for around 4-6 weeks then you give them a wet season which means misting the enclosure 3 times a day to give them a high humidity and increase the food avalible to them this makes the tokays think its spring and time for breeding. once the female has stuck her eggs tothe surface of the viv the adults will guard the eggs for around 4 days.once they have finished looking after the eggs you will need to protect them from the other female as she will eat them.i find using yoghurt pots with holes in for ventilation works really well. the temps in the viv stay at 90 hot end and 75-80 cool end if the viv temps are all spot on the female will choose the best place to lay her eggs usually in the cool end where temps are around 84-88f keep an eye on both females during the egg laying time as females will bully each other for the optimium laying sites.i have had experiences with this and it isnt nice.i choose to breed my tokays one at a time and now i dont have any kind of female to female bullying.

for breeding what i do is....i drop humidity to 50% constant for a few weeks then give them a wet season which has a 60-100% humidity, the wet season, higher humidity and plenty of food avaliable encourages them breed.
for normal tokay keeping with no breeding being induced i keep my humidity at around 70% this seems to work really well.

Very good !
Wet and dry seasons in Indonesia (probably where most tokays come from) are a bit different to you may think. In the Dry season the day time temps are hotter than in the wet season, this will vary on different islands and locations..But an average day time temp would be around 34. During the dry season the night time temps are much colder than during the wet season, again depends where you are but an average night time low would be 18-20. Wet season the day time highs get to around 28, and the night time lows around 24. Tokays come from every environment here from mountains to lowlands, the hotter the area the bigger the tokays are. Its nice to hear the sounds of the tokays at night here...unless they are in your bedroom and your trying to sleep !!!
