We've had an egg that was well overdue and it was looking healthy enough so Pete candled it and we were convinced there wasn't a fully formed gecko in there (looked like a blob, but not a mass that usually fills the whole egg)
So we decided to carefully pip the egg, to our shock as soon as we pierced the egg, 3/4's of a little gecko popped out, fully formed and alive! PANIC STATIONS!!!! We cleared all the mebranes from around its head, all i could think of is when pups/kittens are born is to rub them to stimulate breathing, so thats what i screamed at Pete to do... Well we put him back in the incubator in a cricket tub with moist kitchen roll. Dubiously peeked in there this morning and well he's a little fighter, he's still with us, very weak but hanging in there. So we have everything crossed that the little fella will make it.

Well done, I had a knobtail egg deflate the other day, and i was advised to open it and I found a fully formed but dead gecko in there
He had piped too early and suforcated . I also have an extremely large egg that is twice the size of an egg that is the same age and his clutch mate hatched a week ago. hmmm |
