I have an urgent question and would be grateful for a quick response. One of my second clutch eggs has deflated and the back leg of the baby is out of the shell but nothing else. Is this a serious matter?

Thankyou for the reply, i agree and don't think it is strong enough. It's been the odd looking egg of the clutch and i didn't actually think there was anything in there when i did the candle light test. All i could see was red veins and nothing else

I just thought i would keep you updated. Unfortunately the poor thing didn't make it. I will be burying it in the garden and will make a little cross.
From what i can make out, there was a really thick yellowy/brown goo below the egg so i think the yolk had leaked somehow. Still not sure how it managed to get it's leg out of the egg and nothing else. It's very unfortunate but these things happen and nothing we can do to prevent it.

I know some people might not like the idea of me posting a photo on here of a dead bearded dragon but i am trying to find a cause of what made this happen so that it doesn't happen in the future.
You will see from the photo that the egg has a really dark yellow/orange patch on it. This was sat at the bottom of the egg when it was inflated. Im guessing that was from a split yolk sac that leaked inside the egg and overtime sank to the bottom? When the baby was due to hatch, it split the egg with it's knee/back leg and i left nature to do it's thing. Nothing happened with the baby over a 16 hour period, not even a slight movement, the eggs was still in the same position. I knew the baby had died (right or wrong), i carefully cut away the egg so that i could have a look inside to find what is in the photo. It was indeed dead and was all clumped together with the mass of yolk underneath it. All of my babies have hatched without a yolk sac so im not 100% sure what it should look like but im guessing not like it does in the photo? Please don't hate me for what i have done. Im sad at the loss of this poor baby and i am a person that likes to find out explanations. Does anyone know what caused this to happen and possibly a way of preventing it? I don't think there was a way of preventing it but i will never know if i don't ask. Has this kind of thing happened to anyone else on here? The baby is now burried in the garden and i hope there is such thing as reincarnation and it manages to get another chance at life. ![]()

Thanks mate. I think it may have just been a natural thing. All the others have hatched ok apart from 1 which im guessing is going to be a similar situation. It's being left in the incubator regardless as it might just be a lazy one.
It's also gone a kinda yellowy/brown underneath the egg but nowhere near as bad as that one did so i will give it some time to see if anything happens
