£1 a mile??? crikey! does that include a gold plated delivery box? lol

do you have insurance to cover the animals while in transit?

The Reptile Taxi is much cheaper than that, with the correct insurance and the animals turn up safe and well. also delivered with a smile too

Thanks for bringing APC to my attentionas I hadn't looked into them yet.

Well, Im not arguing the fact that APC probably have moved livestock FACT....but did they actually know what they were moving at the time is probably the question to ask yourself. APC do not have the relevent paperwork to legally offer a live animal courier service. However, every courier that I have already mentioned on the thread so far that are illegal to use for this, unfortunatly will have been and probably still will move live animals illegally because they have not specifically been informed whats in the package or agreed to take a live animal package.

Please see below:

Next one then has to be APC (APC Overnight or Alternative Parcels Company)

APC Overnight

As you can see from the link above, listed as a prohibited item is Animals, therefore, this courier DOES NOT knowingly agree to courier live animals and does not hold the paperwork and authorization to do so.

Be Aware: If you purchase an animal and accept courier by APC, APC Overnight or Alternative Parcels Company, you are breaking the law and your live animal is just another package being thrown about in the back of a van.

I've often contacted people for quotations on reptile transport but I've always found it (understandably) FAR to expensive to be viable. This is possibly because I live in lovely out-of-the-way East Anglia but it makes me wonder how anybody affords it sometimes.

well someones gotta live there i suppose

thing is the price doesnt change for type/price of animal bein transported, whether it be a £20 gecko or a £2000 snake, it still cost the same though im sure people are more willing to pay the fee on a £2000 purchase cos they see it as being more worth it

I cannot comment on what has been done, this could be for various reasons one of which could be that they previously held the paperwork in order to offer the service and do not now(Just like ANC USED TO but for one reason or another now DO NOT), this could be the same case with APC.

Either way, I can only provide the information from the source which is their own terms and conditions of carridge.

Hi there,

Yup I can understand this, and you will usually find alot of the time that people see life as being cheap and will happily pay £13 for a courier that has no idea what they are carrying and it is infact illegal as the courier holds none of the authorisation required to transport live animals in the UK.

This thread isn't aimed at the private couriers which provide a specialised service, who have vast experience and a personal interest in what they are doing.

It also isn't aimed at discussing the cost of or the moral implications of using a nation courier.

More trying to cover the legal aspects of it and find out the facts when it comes to what is legal and what is not.
