personally. It doesn't matter which section your talking about, if part of a shop is shit then the shop is really. Shouldn't be excused if one section is ok but the rest is awful. And about the saturday helpers. Just because they are young doesn't mean they won't be good. Ive been a 'saturday' guy at my work for 2 years, since i was 16. Yet theres the fact that I was helpful as much as possible and I do know what im on about when it comes to fish. That's age related discrimination to expect that young people won't be very good. You wouldn't say that a woman won't be as good as a bloke or a black guy doesn't know as much as the white guy. sorry but we apparently live in a equal country. Women have their respect as do ethnic minorities (despite what the news might say). But no one cares about young people. Its bollocks to be honest. Right side track over. Back to the topic lol

right first thing dont say im chatting bollocks... didint mean just because they was young it was the fact of school, course work, expierience... and how you can judge the rep side on the fish side is mental! obviously you cant find a problem with there rep department so you have to dig at something else. one last thin f k discrimination to be honest its a dog eat dog world with every man for him self, especially the way this contry is going....

i didnt say u were chatting bollocks. I said the fact that people judge people for reasons like age, sex, race is bollocks.
And the second thing im not judging the rep section on the fish section. Im judging the whole bloody shop. the bloke who owns it cant exactly say. sorry my fish section is crap but hey have you looked at my reptile section. dog eat dog world yes but it doesn't justify people being out of order for no reason. You know someone you get to judge. Can't justify being an arse to someone just because they are different to you.

Hi, my name is Ben and i work on the reptile section of the Jap Koi. Nice to meet you all!
Anyways, I have not come on here to argue with anyone, but merely to state a few things, I’m not a regular visitor of RFUK but have signed up recently mainly to aid people with any chameleon queries they have as that is what I consider my speciality in terms of reptiles. Anyways, first things first...Steve, I am not going to agree or disagree with anything you have said, as you said you have an opinion and you are very much entitled to have it. It's a shame that at various times we at the Jap Koi have not met your expectations, hopefully one day you may change your mind, if not then there's nothing else we can do. In terms of our Dwarf Caiman we DID acquire them from Cold Blooded; we have a good relationship with the guys down there and went to them especially for the crocs. We were informed they were Captive Bred in Belgium and were a year old. They are now coming up to 3 years old. Obviously sometimes an animals past can be deliberated, we can only go by what we are told, and trust the guys at Cold Blooded. Whether the crocs are truly Captive Bred or if they are Wild Caught or Captive Farmed we may never know. What we do know is that for the past 2 years we have done our utmost to care for them, we have enlarged their living conditions as required, they feed well, are free of any diseases, parasites etc...and generally are lovely healthy (and a bit snappy!) animals. Their price reflects the level of care, attention and money we have already and intend to spend on them, they are also a specialist animal and that also plays a part in their price. That leads me neatly onto pricing at the Jap Koi. I am not going to dwell on this as I am not turning this into a debate about pricing. I will just say that we have a pricing policy at the shop, if people consider things overpriced then once again that reflects all that goes into the running of a very large and busy working environment. We have lots of staff members, lots of animals, heating, lighting etc...I could go on. I am not the owner or the manager of the shop and don’t pretend to know everything about running a business but I personally feel that we try to remain competitive. There will always be places cheaper and there will always been places more expensive. I'd just like to say that this is the only time I will be talking about my place of work on this forum. I have signed up here to talk about chameleons, my passion, and don’t need to spend night after night talking about my work. People are welcome to come in and talk to me directly at work if necessary. In terms of the Fish Sections in the shop, once again this is not a forum about fish, and I am not a member of those departments and so am in no position to discuss them. All I will say is that department have knowledgeable staff members who are passionate about fish and fish keeping (marines, coldwater, koi etc) and they are just as keen on maintaining high standards as those in the reptile section. Finally I’d just like to thank all the positive comments that have appeared on this thread regarding the reptile section and its staff members. We try our hardest to maintain high standards in the reptile section; we work hard to be a clean shop, with quality animals that are all looked after to the highest standard. We make sure all our animals are kept in the correct living environment; we go out of our way to make their vivariums interesting and atheistically pleasing, they are well fed and in good health. We try to be polite, friendly and informative, we make educated decisions on who we sell animals to and always recommend the correct vivarium, equipment, food etc when selling an animal. It is NOT in our interest to sell animals to anyone who we don’t consider suitable and it is NOT in our interest to make people buy anything they don’t need just to enhance profits. If anyone disagrees with anything I have said then that is ok, but I would personally like to draw a line under this discussion and move on. Many Thanks, and thanks again for all the custom and support we receive, it’s very much appreciated and we look forward to seeing you all again in the shop soon. Ben (Reptile Section, Japanese Koi Company) |

All the people in the koi are really nice people. Adam and ben on the reptiles are lovely guys they will do a hell of alot for ya nice friendly jokey people and if u ask ben will even sing you a song I don't think that kois prices for reptiles are all that bad at all. I own alot of snakes and a chameleon and stuff i purchased from there. I'm happy paying slightly more. I can see in there that they are well cared for and i can get anything i want in there. If you after fish ask for dan or martin absolute wicked guy! If your after koi ask for chris or sean they are mega good as well and the knowledge that sean has on things in way over my head lol Tbh all the guys there are great and i get on with them like charms. The crocs arent really over priced they cost a fortune to keep and also that tank cost a good few bob as well and everything they eat adds up! nobody ever thinks of it like this. I am happy to work in the koi and although i am not on reptiles and i am quite new to the shop to my knowledge on fish isn't too great there will always be help on anything you need a hand with! I am sure that they koi has enough customers without people who would like to sit here and slag it off. If you don't like it dnt go. but their animals are really well looked after and if they aren't doing well or have something wrong with them they wont sell it unlike most other shops!
