I don't think asking for "offers" should be banned. I think asking for offers without GUIDELINE prices should stop.

Bad Advert:

Subject: "look!!" or any other nonspecific title
Advert: python for sale, offers pls kthxbai

Good advert:

Subject: SALE: Female Royal Python West Yorkshire Collection Preferred
Advert: I have for sale a probed as female Royal python, '05 captive bred, weighing approximately 1500 grams. Currently feeding on defrost rats.
(picture)
Collection only from West Yorkshire or may deliver for petrol costs - local collection preferred. Reptile Taxi / Gremlin Rides / Petwheels accepted at buyer's expense.
Offers in the region of £150 please or trade for male Pastel royal, adult female corns of equivalent value or vivarium with equipment.

I voted....DONT BAN

It annoys the heck out of me when someone says offers but banning it is a reaction to my inability not to get annoyed... the person is hardly being violent or nasty
if i cant COPE with the offers only threads then i have to take a wee look at how easily annoyed i get and check myself really!!

ive never asked for offers but some people like that freedom to do so... ( allbeit a tad annoying to me and others)

Some newer members or reptile keepers actually are not sure of resale prices and are afraid to post what they want..

ive seen people post firm prices and theres FIVE posts after it saying

THATS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE MATE,... youre having laugh

and such like.. now thats bound to put people off making firm prices isnt it???

something along the lines of

..as IM not sure how much this animal is wroth ( as it was a birthday present im open to offers ( obviously best offer wil secure reptile)

is fine in my opinion

why should people be clamped down on this way

if a person is uncomfortable asking a specific price why force them not to post on classifieds just cos some people get annoyed..

theres more in the world the get annoyed about...

people ask for offers on things all the time..

houses.. auctions etc etc

this is a bit BIG BROTHER and WAY too controlling

Why ban it? If someone wants to put offers on their ad thats up to them!
If you don't like to make offers then just ignore the ad

So the Posting Rules of the Classifieds are being ignored by asking for offers?

May I ask why these threads are not locked/deleted?

It doesn't really give me any confidence buying through forums with relaxed rules to be honest.

It seems people are deciding their rules and that the forum rules are being broken.

Perhaps the rules should be changed?

Personally I'm used to strict rules in trading forums to try and protect buyers and sellers as much as possible, although the forum(s) are not responsible for any bum deals - But where rules have been followed the Admin/Mods will try to help out as much as possible - Other parts of the forum are very relaxed on rules.

But at the end of the day everyone is different, why should this forum be run like others - No reason whatsoever if the Admin/Owner has different views.

There's nothing wrong with that.

But as I've said, it doesn't really give me any confidence buying through forums with relaxed rules to be honest - But that's just how I feel.

Over the years I've seen many bad deals/rip offs and then all hell breaks loose, with this rules start to be locked down and enforced.

Each to their own at the end of the day.

If you don't like the rules don't trade, if things go horribly wrong with a trade then don't complain.

I take it that if you want it banning then you only use ebay for BIN, or not at all.

What does BIN stand for?

I tend to use eBay as an Auction site, making offers on items, things like that.
