I was talking about the person I was quoting, who said they would sell mangroves all day long for £400...which I thinkis wrong and conning people

If someone with no idea of mangrove values offered me £400, i would tell them the snake is not worth that and suggest a realistic price...not unfairly take more money than they should be paying

It's not always an easy thing to research, I've just done google searches in the uk, and found one magrove for sale...which was wild caught and fussy eater, with no price just offers....other than that, all I found was a 2 year old advert, so prices will not be up do date
How is it a con? If you make the offer surely it's what your happy to pay?? Just as it's not always easy for you as a buyer to research the price the same could be said for the seller.

I'm not against, people making offers, or wanting offers, but when they put no ballpark figure

its says to me a lazy seller, who wants to sit back, do nothing, get a range of bids and sell to the highest with little interest in who it's going to.

I'd sell a reptile cheaper if i knew the home was good. and I don't buy from ''offer'' sellers
thats a stupid atitude, not buying from offer sellers - for example

i have a pair of land snails im selling. They are not very popular - so if i put offers its just because i want to see whos interested and what price people are willing to pay.

People who put offers are not starting a bidding war or conning people - as you think they are

also, I disagree, if someone states a price and everything that is needed to be known about the snake. there are far far far less time wasting threads posts on the thread.

offer classifieds are absolutely full of :

''pm'd you'' ''email sent'' ''how much are you asking'' ''got a ballpark figure'' ''would you accept'' etc etc etc, normally wasted pages.

If someone states, species, age, weight condition location and price... the only thing to post is...can I buy it

I always see landies for sale, with prices, normally 50p each for small ones and £2 for adults

you were saying offers stops timewasters on the thread posting back and forth, when my point was it does the opposite, its full of people that make ridiculous offers on thigns they dont realise they cant afford

It's just my personal opinion.

I dont think it should be banned as it wouldnt work, I just wish people wouldnt do it.

It's very annoying, wastes time, people dont get back to you, and to me, in my opinion, it looks like they've got something to hide, and are just out to take as much money as they can...neither are traits I like doign business with.

Im not syaing everyone who puts offers is this, as I wouldnt generalise or make such stereotypical judgements.

Im just stating, it does get on my nervesm and I avoid such sellers

P.S. Im not an angry or stressed person, and I love you all really (going for a bath now)X

I see people making posts...

e.g.

''I'm going to sell X here's some pics and details..what do you think its worth?''

experienced people who know the prices, post their opinion, and a few days later you see it up for sale with a price

I like you people

why is it conning people? You said you would save up and happily pay £400 for a magrove in one post if you didnt know how much it was worth? So your not being conned because you have offered what you are happy to pay i.e. £400. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it...
