e.g. I havent seen that many mangrove snakes for sale, and I do not know what they tend to fetch, but I would like one.

now if mangroves were to sell for say £400 on average, I would be willing to save up and get one for that, so therefore, you could argue, im happily willing to pay £400 for a mangrove

but thats not true, if they only sell for an average of £100, im only willing to pay about £100, give or take a few '£' depending on the individual snake.

If you dont know the value of the snake, then you dont know what you are willing to pay. you dont want someone to snap up your offer of £400, to find out you could have got it a week later for £100, but if it is worth £400, and you offer £100, you;re gonna lose your chance to get the snake!

it just causes problems

AND some people genuinely just dont know what to ask...

no, I said, I would be happy to pay that, if they were worth that, and sold for that, as I could not get them cheaper, I would be happy to pay the going rate. maybe I could get a breeding project going, and make money back on the babies

I would not be happy to pay 4 times the going rate

surely tho if there hasnt been any posts put up with prices then it makes it near impossible to offer sensibly . .

i think it just takes a lot of fuss and hassle out of the buying process , you know how much it is , if you dont want to pay it then fair enough at least you know with out going to the trouble of PMing

Ban the 'make me an offer' with no prices .... it's annoying! Especially when you pm them looking for a rough price and they say 'dunno, make me an offer'
They MUST know how much they want, why not just put it?????
I vote .... no price = no advert

Yes but the seller could quite easily post saying what should i sell this for before they offer it, like many good sellers do on the forum

they have time on their side..

If you post saying what should I offer...it might be sold before anyone gets back to you!

It is annoying if they ask for offers but we cant just ban it because its annoying. If people dont like it then vote with your fingers and dont buy from people asking for offers then they might add a price.

lol, well said, exactly my point

I dont think a ban would work. kinda like communism...sounds great but unfeasbable
I think people that think there should be a ban (like me in an ideal world)
should ppeacfully nto buy from 'offer' sellers...and when things dont sell...maybe they'll get the hint and put prices up

Saying offers is pointless you need a starting point. It's way esayer to state your miximum disiered price and ONO.(example leopard gecko £60ono)so you can go a bit under to the right person that way every knows where they stand.Thing is when you do a make offers sale your very unlikely to get anyone offering a high or a price near what you want price.Your going to get people testing you first with low prices to see if you really know your stuff.

If you sell a albino boa worth around £1000-ish you see how meny PM with offers around £200 £100 even £50 you get.Sorry but your dreaming if you think someone going to say for example £400 for a pair of mangroves strate off. Some one that knows there stuff will offer the going or around the going. Some one that know there stuff but trying to pull a fast one will make you a offer way lower. Some one that not up to scratch will offer you low out of nieveity or will PM you asking roughly how much would you like.Only if your a conner would you put a figger of £400 in there head for reptiles not worth that amount. No one is just going to go strate to to doller it's human nature every one like a bargen.

True say ..... i'll look a right twat too if i put a corn up for sale and forget to put a price! I still say 'ban it'

I suppose people have reasons for not asking for a price, and fair do's i suppose.... it only bugs me if i'd like it.
