I often do not respond to adverts asking for offers since I have no indication of what the stuff is worth. On the other hand maybe the seller does not know how much it is second hand. I think one solution could be to allow posters to ask for offers provided that they have stated what the stuff originally cost them and how long ago they bought it.

My opinion's simple. I don't want to see an advert that just says "offers" without some indication of what would be an acceptable offer.

For example, I have posted adverts saying "Offers in the region of £X please or trade for Y or Z".

Means that people who want the item ALSO know what I would be happy to get for the item - so I'm not wasting their time if they think I want too much for what I'm selling, and they're not wasting my time if they make an offer that I then feel obligated to politely refuse. If I say clearly "offers in the region of £90 or trade for adult female cornsnakes" then you know I'm not going to accept £25 or a common boa, yes? And if you offer me more than £90 you're more likely to get the animal even if there's other interested parties and I'm more likely to deliver it to you personally!

And if I see an advert saying "offers" or that doesn't list a price - no matter how much I want it - I automatically assume I probably can't afford it. It means you won't be able to sell to me, even if your price-in-mind IS actually in my price range - because I don't know it is.

I think there should be a simple form to fill out for classifieds, to be honest - a drop down for Sale/Wanted/Trade/Rehome, a text box for what it is, a location drop down selection (even if it's just the county) and the requirement that there be a string in the message with £number somewhere in it. A photo would be nice too, but I understand not everyone has a camera handy.

Someone was offering a WII the other day with games and asked for offers i offered £30 and was refused. They came back and said they were looking for £250 i think it was the package. Shes could have just said the lot of £250, would have saved me a wasted post and wasted time looking for the response!!

Also - why should prices have to be made public? It's a private add, just like in a newspaper etc - so why does everyone else need to know how much you sold for.

I just think the reasons for banning somthing should be GOOD reasons.

And there isn't any, just peoples prefrences.
Hi all,

If you don't like it sell privately, then noone knows your buisness.

Hmm, if i don't like what? People knowing the price?
Aren't classifieds just the same as selling privatly?

It doesn't say you have to post a price on here, just the same as in newspapers.
