Default SELLING dirty vivs etc

Ive decided to do a wee poll to find out how people feel about buying second hand vivs...

It was buying an exo terra on ebay that made me think of this but also theres been some threads in the last year increasingly on rfuk that have made me wonder too....

DOES SEEING A DIRTY VIV PUT YOU OFF BUYING IF THE SELLER DOESNT CLEAN IT BEFORE SELLING????

you dont need to post on this thread but your vote ini the poll would be appreciated

Is it just me or is it becoming more and more acceptable to post pics and sell dirty disgusting vivs..

surely if you are a good keeper and seller you wouldnt even dream of having old smelly dirty vivs lying about... let alone posting pics on classifieds of them for sale..

i recently collected a viv and it took me a good hour to clean it.. it wasnt from rfuk it was ebay and the girl hadnt posted pics of the actual exo terra on ebay... but stil i see more and more vivs on classifieds within rfuk and gumtree and ebay that are really horrible and dirty... shudder

i bought it anyway ( the viv that is) as i really needed it but i wasnt best pleased for hygiene resons at having to bring it home in my car... but its becoming the norm more and more now..

i feel that if a viv is not being used a keeper would automatically want it clean if it was laying around their house... and even more so before the buyer collected it...

surely ?? or am i missing something

I sold 2 vivs a while back and i always steam clean and steralise them without even thinking about it..

is it maybe just me or do others get put off by buying a dirty viv??

I wouldnt buy a second hand viv at all. not worth it, I would prefer it to be new and clean to my standard.

I only use tubs now anyway.....

....but when I got rid of my vivs I gave them away and to be honest the glass was all watermarked etc from moving them around and havinf them sat there they where a little dusty etc,.. but for free what would you expect!

just my opinion.... cant see the poll either.

I dont really care, i mean if it was disgustingly filthy i wouldn't be impressed but if i received a clean viv, i'd still clean it before i put my animals in so makes no difference to me really.

personally i would be put off a dirty viv but would accept if the glass was abit dirty tho, i dnt see any reason y a viv would be left dirty not only for the smell and hygine issues but general looks also and for what people would think when looking to buy or just viewing my reps

Maybe a few bucks off... for the effort of cleaning it when you get it home....

Yup id stil clean it of course i agree 100%.... even if it looked pristine id clean it myself first before placing any animal in it.. we steam clean and use f10 solutions

but i think im maybe a clean freak when it comes to animals...

id want the seller to clean it first.. you wouldnt sell dirty clothes with your sweat on it.. so why sell dirty vivs with animal skin and excrement still in

i dont wanna deal with their old animals dried up poop and mess first LOL

If your getting a bargin why does it acctually matter anyways ?

I wouldnt like to think anyone would put animals into a viv they have bought without cleaning it themselves first before putting their animals in it

so what does it really matter
