Default Theres rehoming then theres

trying to get a free pet, a number of adverts on preloved are asking for free animals, some refusing to pay for animals and some saying they have 6 kids so cant afford to pay for vivs and want them free!

Im one for rehoming animals and doint the best for them, I have rescued many animals and rehomed and helped with peoples reps but this is silly!

Unfortunately the world is full of free loaders, it baffles me that they expect to get any feed back from an ad like this, but who knows ? I would like to credit those in need of a good new home for their pet with a least some common sense, enough at least to see though people like this.
Ads like this put off genuine rescue centres from making themselves more high profile. This in turn leaves people in need with less option of where to go. A vicious circle I fear.

I do alot of tortoise rehoming through my web site and the amount of people who email me after a free tortoise is untrue.

i used to rehome beardies and corns but after rehoming with no rehoming fee either and sometimes free delivery i got a bit wise to people ...some of them even put them up for sale a few months later ....
I would never be so cheeky as to ask for an animal for free but many do and usually people with no experience or someone who wants to make a quick buck..
Saying this though there are some genuine people who want to rehome for the right reasons and also i know a couple of people who only take in animals with problems and they are free as they know they will have vet bills to pay in the future .so they will not pay for the rep as well...

im seriously going to have to start thinking about asking for donations with rehomed animals, we took in another BD last week, more food, more leccy etc...

taken in 4 turtles..rather than the local park pond, but cost me a fortune..

i dont have any money (it all goes on the animals) i can quite easily get the items i need off my local freecycle (i did with half of the pond stuff for the turtles etc)

i could never afford to buy one, but would happily take one in, if it needed a good home, even if it meant being up all night knocking something up

there are poor people, and there is poor lazy spongers. (and rich ones actually!!!!)

i do buy some animals, hoping to breed if usually WC etc, or a good starter pet, to help cover some costs over the year (hence week old bairds rats we have)

You wouldnt belive how often people want US to pay, to take in there unwanted animals...

Sorry but i wont rehome a tortoise to someone who has no money and wants it as a childs pet. Vet bills and equipment can be espensive.

Most of the emails i get are off people wanting an animal for nothing.

I like to place a animal in a good home where all needs are meet which means having money for vets bills, equipment etc

There is alot more to tortoise care than just leaving it outside (thats why they all died) times have changed.
