What effect is that? does word art on word go to work with you? that van screams "Any old iron"

you are doing a good thing by sticking up for this person but you are being a bit silly with your way of conducting yourself to be honest, the bits of the address you have missed out are easily filled in with the rest of the address.
IF? you are what you say you are pay him a visit but im sure im not the only person who is tired off reading you big yourself up on the forum "whooo im a bailiff". To be fair times are hard so you wont make friends pointing that out
Please take that in the light hearted way in wich it is ment!

Sorry that this person as taken this money in such a way, i would say be a bit more sensible with your money in the future, you are not alone, there are even a few mods on here that have been scammed.

Good luck getting your money back!

I'm uneasy about the way this is being dealt with as well. We've had the 'I know coppers & can get them to do searches on mobile phone numbers' - as I've pointed out already this is highly illegal & unethical & now a flagrant breach of the Data Protection Act.

The OP has an address for the scammer. Surely it's best to let him get on with a county court claim & also chase it up with the police? All this 'I'm a hardarse, Bailiff' routine is only going to end in tears.

Personally if I was in that situation and had money stolen from me by a scammer with a blatant disregard for the law and no morals whatsoever, I would be appreciative of any help I could get.

I wouldn't care where the information came from about the seller, if I could get it I would, whether legal or otherwise. If someone takes my money and gives nothing in return they have wronged me, if I then speak to Mr X and get his address etc. and breach DPA by doing so then so be it, I want my money or the product I was promised.

The point is - regardless of whether this person is 'bigging themselves up' or not, they are trying to help. The way they present themselves may get up your noses but if it helps the unfortunate buyer in any way, then it's a good thing surely- you don't need to like the person or their attitude to see that.

There are too many unscrupulous people on here ripping others off and scamming left, right and centre at the moment.

Agree that there is far too much scamming going on but i 100% stand by the fact that they should not be 'bigging themselves up' because it takes away from the crime itself and its the crime that should be dealt with rather then this "i know where you live" tosh. This will not resolve anything and as no place on a public forum.
I would also point out that a court can order somebody to pay back money but a man with a van can not, this will just be seen as arrasment and take away further from the original crime.

Its simple really if you want to pay him a visit then go do so but i wouldnt advise telling the whole of the RFUK

Any way thats me done on the matter I'm off to go look on the classifieds

I think i am being slightly mis understood, once and if ninja decides to involve the courts and if they find in ninjas favour, which looking at the proof they will, a county court order can be issued within 2 days allowing a bailiff to be allocated to recover the monies owed, ANY court recognised baliff can be used for this. If the police get involved things will take somewhat longer as a case needs to be built before going to a magistrates court

If it ever went this far the recovery will be carried out properly this time, not like last time when a vigilante gang turned up at his address

I merely pointed out to him, if he came on the forum again once he was found out, that with the right resources anyone can be found, even if they use a pay as you go phone, so why bother scamming people in the first place

Its just a shame that there is so much of this going on here, i suppose when times are hard some people will survive anyway they can..Then again everyone is probally finding things tight at the mo but not ripping people off

What you havent pointed out is that if this scumbag gets ccj'd then assuming he is on a low income and can prove it to the courts through an income and expenditure he will be given the option to pay the money owed via a small amount each week (anything from a pound a week i believe).

It isnt untill he defaults on the ccj can the person owed take it back to court and get the court to get order the bailiffs in.

This is what happened in my experience when ive been owed money.
