Manchester Reptile Rescue

Hello all i am starting up a reptile rescue center in manchester area.
i have been planning this now for the best part of 2 years and now with my new accomodation i can put it all into action.
i will take in all snakes no matter the condition or size or temperament.
i can accomodate for smaller snakes but large snake will need to be with vivarium.
i can collect if its within a reasonable distance from where i am located in manchester.
i will also take all lizards along with suitable vivarium.
i have been keeping reptiles for around 17 years.
if you have any queries then you can message em and i will get back to you as soon as possible.
all the animals that i take in i will look to rehome.

i will now take in larger snakes without vivarium, i have just purchased 6 6x3x4 tanks arriving in 2 hours!!

When you say tanks what do you mean? Are they fish tanks?

when i say tanks i mean vivariums its just all my life ive called it a tank.

do you have anything avgailable at the moment if so what condition is it in and how much is rehoming fee

Do you have a good reptile vet?
Setting up a rescue is not all freebies you know.

I ended up taking in rescues, not out of choice, just where I was working I was the only one with reptile knowledge and ended up having stuff dumped in store, meaning I'd have to buy loads more stuff so thank god I got managers discount! Rehoming fees go no where to covering costs.
Keeping reptiles does not prep you for rescue. Ask Denise, she'll tell you how much it costs and what the extent can be and cost of vet bills.
Check with local council aswell.

This guy enquired about rehoming a boa from ourselves earlier and when I asked about his reptile vet I didn't get a reply then he changed his mind. Was also concerned with his previous posts posted on the forum as he seems to lack knowledge and experience which I find is rather worrying. Running a rescue is damn hard work like Laura says and one that is a very expensive hobby and a level of commitment that goes beyond the norm.
Per week it is currently costing between £100 - £150 at the moment, I am expecting this to rise during the winter months which is the norm. That covers electricity, food and vet bills. Rehoming fees don't go any where near covering those costs, that doesn't include petrol and wear and tear to your car or phone bills. If your serious about setting up a rescue then good luck.

Sadly this forum seems to atract a lot of rescue people, the sad bit is most of these are not in it for the sake of animals in need. There after freebies or will only take animals of intrest and salabity. It gives the genuine people a bad name and harms the hobby as a hole.
Look at the adds here, some members need to change there names.

Those who are in it for the animals spend lots of their own money paying for sick and disabled reptiles and stand out from the rest.

There are quite a few decent rescues around but you are right those that aren't do bring the rest down.

Ummm, reading his previous posts... am I the only one just a little bit concerned?
