let him report you.

i sold a speed boat on Ebay, worked fine, we used it at Windemere and Preston docks. Although when we put it up for sale a year later we had a few problems with it but 'sorted' them out. Admittedly we had to cut a few corners but it was still safe etc.

Bloke came down, looked at it, heard it running and hooked it up to take it home. Then he decided he didn't like the tyre on it, as it was a boat on a trailer going in and out of water the wheel was a bit rusty and needed pumping up. Decided he wanted new tyres which we put on at our expense and had it delivered, at our expense.
When he got it he put it in for a service and then whined like hell saying it was a death trap threatening us with court and the lot.

i replied telling him that he saw it working and heard it running.. he then said the CAB told him to drop it down to the definition of 'working order'

moral of the story = they came, they saw, they accepted

what a muppet..

Don't worry Churchy you should be fine.

to get our breeders licence all we had to do was take a piece of paper and write "BREEDING LICENCE" on it with wax crayon (very important. MUST be wax crayon)

We're now fully licenced, legal, approved by the queen, breeders.

Seriously though what a tool, he's handed over the money, unless he has a legit problem it's just tough. I don't class "i had my eyes shut when agreeing to buy this" as a legit problem.

Most shops won't discount an animal for anything, let alone a regrown tail.... I will sometimes discount the price if the animal has been in the shop a while, but certainly I've never seen a shop knock something down to half price simply because a regen tail - wholesalers sell "imperfect" animals at only a few quid cheaper than the perfects, a shop could afford to knock a bit off, but half price and they'd be losing money. I am certainly more open to haggling if there is a flaw in the animal, but if someone chose to buy that animal at the price stated, after having seen the flaw, then that's their choice.

I wouldn't worry about it, he has nothing he can report you for and no such thing as a breeders license and unless you're actually a shop operating without a pet shop license you've got nothing to worry about from a legal standpoint.

I said no, with the following clarifications:

1. If you're selling them, I might offer one price for animals who have entire tails, and a different SLIGHTLY lower (maybe 25% off) price for animals with regenerated tails.
2. If I bought an animal sight unseen and it was never mentioned that they had regenerated tails, I'd be unhappy when I got the animals - and asking for a partial refund. Not half, though - a tail isn't half the functionality of a gecko, and I wouldn't treat it as such. In this case, I might ask for a tenner back.

If the guy saw photos in advance, and inspected them personally and didn't say anything at the time, it's his own tough luck... I'd have said something like "Would you lower your price, since these have regenerated tails" at the time, or said "I'm sorry, I don't want any with regenerated tails."

As for "breeders license" that's only applicable to dogs, and then only if you're breeding more than so many litters a year (when it becomes a business instead of a hobby litter).

im 2 ways on this

if i go to a shop, id exspect a reduced price for a regen tail for example. i got my patternless albino for £25 because half his tail was missing. however when its a small hobbyist or private breeder and people demand half off then thats just robbery. especially what you described, him accepting and inspecting the animal then moaning about it later, pathetic and waste of time to even respond to him lol!

I was told by a local pet shop that i would need a 'breeders licence' in order to sell them any reptiles. However, i believe that a 'breeders licence' is only required if you intend to make a profit on your sales. The fact that this guy had already chosen the leo's he wanted invalidates his claim of you unknowingly selling him leo's with a regen tail. What a tool! lol

There is no such thing as a breeders licence at all.

Have supplied countless shops with never a scrap of paperwork other than reciepts and invoices etc.

i've never seen the point of demanding less for a gecko with a regen tail... it doesn't effect it what so ever. i'd tell that guy if he had a problem with it then he should have said something before he handed money over!! what a knob

Just tell him straight. you don't do discounts for regens............ on the other hand you might do discount for Retards !..see if he takes you up on that !

You get what you pay for, if he saw, liked and payed for then he has not got a leg to stand on.
