Thumbs down easy come easy go

I am really starting to feel annoyed at people who get something one week then want to get rid of it the next. Don't have the space (why did you get it in the first place then, surely you researched and knew how much room it/they would need), want to go buy a billion new and more 'exciting' things at Hamm (don't buy an animal on impulse then and have to get rid of it in an week to 'make room' for your new animals you will probably want to swap/sell in a couple of months).

I can understand people who find their circumstances have changed, e.g. having to move or splitting with a partner but these seem to be the rarer ads.

Rant over.

Agree completely. There are a few people on these boards who i refuse to sell to, regardless of how much they ask, purely because i know my babies would be out of the back door within a few weeks

I buy and sell for a business, but this year I sold some of the corns I'd bought for myself, not for the business... and it's been breaking my heart. One of the corns I was so upset after I sold her I had to buy her back!

I don't really understand how if people buy animals for themselves, they then go on and sell them. Everything in my personal collection I buy with the intention of keeping for life and when my health made me sell some of them this year - I sold the babies that I hadn't formed an attachment too yet quite so much, but even one of the yearlings I had to have back (thankfully the buyer was understanding).

But on the flip side, I run a shop, I buy animals in for the shop and I sell them usually without blinking an eye (but I sell them knowing that they are going to the correct homes..)... and some people view their personal life like that too, no attachment at all.

I've actually been upset at customers too - once had a chameleon in for 6 months in the shop, and I did get attached to him, so was considering not selling him. Nice family came, really wanted him, spent a small fortune on his enclosure, so I thought, better let him go, good family, more attention, he's not yours to keep.... a month later they come back in "no, we sold him, he was too expensive to keep", and I was absolutely heartbroken because now I've no idea who has him, or how they're caring for him

I think I'm a bit too emotional about reptiles if anything... I wish I could be a bit more callous

It does annoy me a bit, although I'm a shop - I'm a pet shop. I like to think that I am selling a pet that like a cat or a dog is going to fill a small hole in someones life, and every animal I sell I like to think of having a long and happy life in the correct environment. If people just resell them straight away then it is simply not good for the animals involved.

Sold the one that thinks it's a pitbull ? I fell in love with the one that hated me Lol

I agree with you all though. It's stupid, in my time on these forums i've seen quite a few people do exactly what you've said. To be fair sometimes people have a good enough excuse, ie. kid on the way, having to move home, university. And thats understandable (Although the latter should have been in the plans from the beginning)

But the majority of the time people are bored of what they have and want something exciting. There was only one animal that i felt would go to a better home with more attention than i could give, and that was the sinaloan milk snake i aquired at the barking reptile show last year. It got my attention at the show, but after a while i noticed i wasnt giving it as much attention as my other animals, i found someone close by who keeps me up to date on that snake, and i got my beautiful blizzard leo in exchange for the snake.

I couldn't see me giving up any of my current animals unless theres no other alternative. And although it is tempting to getting as many animals as i possibly can when i go to hamm i'm trying to find something that i would like to keep, and not just buy loads to sell.

I totally agree. There is a huge difference in someone selling hatchlings/babies after breeding, or through changes in circumstances etc...

But, I get really annoyed reading the....Fancy a change, want to swap....WHY? Ads.....
