exactly meko, people just dont put thought into their threads it seems! Personally, if i was selling something, then i would rather people respond on the thread 1st to ask simple questions and get the answers to decide if theyre actually interested, than pm me because then ill get 5 people pm me the same thing and ill have to write 5 answers! (if ive been stupid enough to leave something out that is!!) plus my pm box is ALWAYS full lol so maybve thats my problem!

I'm probably not really qualified to say anything about this but the way I see it lots of people miss out useful information from their sale posts such as age, sex, location, collection and/or reptile taxi and whilst this isn't directly related to the 'annoying' posts referred to here as a buyer I find this far more unhelpful than having to trawl through 20 'I wish you were closer' posts, which until now I'd only seen as friendly and fairly complimentary. Surely it also gives those who are desperate to sell (as some people seem to be) the opportunity to offer reptile-taxi etc. to interested parties.

That said I can't drive, my partner doesn't have a car at the moment and neither of us are able to spend the weekend crossing the country for anything so I can sympathise with those who 'wish they were closer' as I often do even if I don't post to that effect.

Anyway just my twopence worth.

Surely it can be done that you can only post in classified if you are selling or looking for something and cant there be a form type thing to fill in or something like that?

i've mentioned that in a couple of other threads..

what really does my nut in is things like:

potential buyer: hi what does it come with
seller: pm sent
different potential buyer: how old is it?
seller: pm sent

why send pms for the common questions that you'll get asked again and again..

or when questions are asked on the thread and the next post is a bump by the seller. Did they ignore the question or reply by pm?

yeh i hate that...it makes you think [well me] that the question is being dodged.

Dont agree with the idea of only being able to view or post in classifide adds you have previously filled in a form to say your looking for though.

the form idea that i suggested would be a template rather than a form..

ie

for sale / wanted
description
sex (if relevant)
age (if relevant)
condition (if relevant)
location
price
description & notes

so all the important information is there without the usual:
collection only!
where from?
Newcastle
under lyne or upon tyne?
Upon Tyne
oh, too far.. can you deliver?
no its collection only.
oh, can i use Reptile Taxi?
yes
