Great small newts

I keep a group of 8 italian alpine newts that are around 18 months old. These newts have very pretty spotty colouring on their ides, and an orange/yellow underbelly. The males have bluish tinges in their spotted areas and can be stunning, although the females are pretty too.
My newts live in a 2 foot fish tank as they are mainly aquatic, the water level is around 4 inches and they have land areas created by rocks and wood sticking out of the water. They seem to like resting on floating plants in the water. The tank has a home made vented lid as newts can scale glass quite easily! I have a snall filter in the tank which i clean out once a week, and do a partial water change once a fortnight. These newts require no heating, and are happy at room temperature. In the hotter summer months i melt ice cubes through the vented top if the room temperature gets too high. These newts will eat frozen bloodworm, live daphnia, live bloodworms, live brine shrimp, mini mealworms, waxworms, they will pretty much eat anything offered.
