cheap and cheerful
Comments
what do you get when you split a coconut in half, hollow it out and cut a small hole for access? well its the Komodo habitat coconut den of course! this is a cheap and cheerful hide that is perfect for use for hatchling snakes or geckos, very cheap to purchase and fit well in most tropical styles set ups. they are not easy to clean so if you have quite a messy inhabitant then be preppared to scrub it long and hard to get it clean, however for the price it is you may as well just chuck it away and get a fresh one!
one major problem i have personally encountered with this product is BEWARE OR CRACKS! i have fortunately never had a problem with one of my reptiles but i have uses one of these for my russian dwarf hamsters and after about 4 months of use a crack developed, and i found one of my hamsters with their leg caught within the gap, unable to move, they nearly lost their leg due to struggling to get free and i hope this serves as a warning to check all decorations regularly for ware and tear that may cause injury to their animals.

as mentioned above please ensure you check regularly for cracks especially if it gets wet and dries as limbs may easily get trapped and require veterinary attention.

Useful and affordable
Comments
I've found these little hides quite nice and not out of place in my vivariums. If you have small animals but can't afford the exo-terra hides, go for these which don't look like yuky plastic saucers but do the job nonetheless. I have one in each of my geckos vivariums and they are quite happy to climb over it every now and then. I like to give them a choice of hide. I have to admit, thy don't really go inside it but it's there for them, and for that price, if they don't happen to like it, I am not going to be upset. Also, it's quite versatile as I have one of them in my biggest aquarium. I use it for the catfish. I guess they can hide/breed if they feel like it.

It's waterproof so you can use it for different animals, quite versatile as long as the animals are *small*
It's cheap so easy affordable for all
It's natural so gives a good feel to the vivarium. Doesn't look out of place

Difficult to clean if you want to wipe it; but as it's waterproof, it's easily washable so it's no problem.

brilliant hide for reptiles
Comments
this product is great for using as a hide for geckoes, baby snakes etc.it is good value for money as most shops sell them at approx £1-2 for the half sized one.i have many hides in my cresties vivs and my male crestie used his as a bed to sleep in.the other one uses it as a moss hide/hidy hole.i think its worth every penny as it can be used for many things.takes longer to clean the plastic hides but a good scrub with a toothbrush does the trick.my cresties also use theirs when their shedding as its outside is rough but not too rough so its good to rub against.

Nice cheap hide
Comments
Well, it's not waterproof, nor is it easy to clean, as it is literally half a coconut! But, for the price, it is a brilliant hide for a small snake (though a bit high for it in my opinion) or a young gecko, or a similar sized animal. You cant really go wrong for £1... very versatile, and when they get too grubby, simply replace them! Nice and eco friendly too, something which we should all be cautious of, being made of simply the left overs of a coconut. I used to use these for leopard geckos, but think they would be suitable for anything around that size or smaller, but probably nothing much bigger. I only stopped using them because I changed my vivarium layout and had no need for them any more. They also come in different sizes, made by cutting the coconut shell in different amounts, a quarter, half, 3 quarter and whole coconut are available. Would use them again should the need arise.

All in one hide just pick your spot and place it there.

This does exactly what it is designed to you. It gives my little snake a hiding place where she can feel comfortable and secure. These look extremely natural in her viv on both sides and are cheaper to buy than other hides out there on the market. She loves hiding in hers and peeking out to watch the world go by. These are a lovely addition and I would recommend these every time for smaller snakes to grow up in until you need to upgrade to a bigger hide. One downside to these is the largest of the hides is still not large enough to accomodate a bigger bodied snake.

Awesome little hides
Comments
I love these little hides, they are great for lot's of reasons. They look fab and because of their shape, can fit into the smallest of set ups, be used to fill in spaces in larger ones or simply used to look good. Even the large ones aren't great for the bigger snakes though but I used these for all my babies and they loved them. The rough (but not sharp!) outsides are perfect for shedding snakes though they can be a pain to clean if they get dirty. Providing they stay clean, they do last forever and can be reused though they are so cheap that replacing when they are dirty (for the lazy amongst us who can't be bothered with scrubbing!), isn't a problem. I'd like to see these in different colours, somehow, though as I think light and dark green coco caves would look great with lot's of plants. But for pure practicality and not bad looks, you can't go wrong with these.
