Simple and Reasonably Priced
| Installation and Operation |
Use with a proper ceramic fitting and some heat-proof cable as these guys get HOT. These are a puddle of piddle to install and unlike the high wattage 'Pro' range that Exoterra produce, they are easily guarded.
Instructions are minimal but screwing in a bulb isn't exactly rocket science...
ALWAYS use in conjunction with a thermostat and a bulb guard. A pulse stat will give you the most stable conditions. I cannot stress enough how important a stat and guard are for the safe running of a ceramic. As they emit no light it is easy to forget that it is hot and of course all heat sources should be guarded/stat'ed anyway...
An uncontrolled ceramic will not keep the temperature stable and will result in a very unhappy viv occupant.

| Performance vs. Expectations |
The product does exactly what it is intended to. I've yet to have one of these basic range ceramics cause me issues and have 5 currently running.
|
| Value for money |
Cheaper than some other brands and as ceramics last for years if properly fitted I certainly consider them the best value for money.

Hagen are usually excellent at dealing with any problems and if a product has failed will replace it with no arguments.

| Liked about it |
When properly controlled they keep the viv temperatures very stable and warm the air rather than just the ground like a mat does.
They raise ambient air temperature and I've found them to be a better way of heating animals that are prone to RI's.
They are perfect for use with larger vivs and heavy bodied snakes that could cause thermal blocking if basking on a heat mat.
Problem free!

They really do dry out the air. Rather than try to keep a whole enclosure humid and spend your life re-wetting substrate, provide an enclosed moist hide instead.
As I said above, it's easy to forget these guys are on so make sure it's guarded (and if you're not guarding it the you're a fool...)
Use a digital thermometer with it! You can't see if the bulb has blown because there isn't a light out put.

Excellent Heating Solution for Small to Medium Vivs
| Installation and Operation |
Like Ronseal, it does exactly what it says on the box. Simple installation once the Ceramic Bulb holder is in. Just screw in to the holder and away you go. Used it in conjunction with a Pulse Stat and it heated my 3 foot viv with no problems. A guard is needed as no indication of the bulb being on.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
I was a bit sceptacle at first as if a bulb this size could heat my viv. Performed beyond my expectations. Because of the excellent performance of this Ceramic, I will only buy Exo Terra Ceramics now.
|
| Value for money |
Fairly priced on average, but a wide range in prices depending on where you get it from. May be more expensive than spot lamps but will last longer.

| Customer Support |
Had no reason to deal with the company direct. The problem was dealt with at the shop.
|
| Liked about it |
1) Simple to install. Even the misses managed to do it.
2) Very accurate temps when used in conjunction with a Pulse Stat.
3) Fairly small which means putting a guard around it is no problem.

| Didn't like |
1) Initial Ceramic I purchased was damaged. As was the second one. Inadequate packaging which seems to casue damage to some in transit.

Worth the money
| Installation and Operation |
Very easy to install the same as a normal light bulb.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
This item does exactly what it is supposed to and at a more lenghty rate than some of the other bulbs like it.
|
| Value for money |
I think this item is fairly priced, having said that I think that ALL the bulb manufacturers could drop their prices.
|
| Customer Support |
I have never had a problem so I have never contacted them, though I hope they would help because they are known for caring about animal husbandry.
|
| Liked about it |
The main thing I like is that it does what it is supposed to and fairly efficiently.
I prefer this shaped bulb to the Lucky Reptile Dark Spot, it looks nicer and seems to last longer.
Being flatter means it is easier to guard as well if you have climbing animals.
A good heat source without the light.

I think this sort of bulb is fine at a low wattage, no more than a 60W if you have no regulator fitted.
So many things can alter the amount of heat from these bulbs, so you don´t get a regulated temperature, just a hit or miss range, which is fine if you don´t have an animal which needs a constant high heat or set heat.

Effective form of heating
| Installation and Operation |
Easy to install, just ensure you have a ceramic bulb holder, the bulb is a threaded bulb so just screw into the holder. As with other heating products ensure the bulb is guarded as these can get really hot and also make sure you have a thermostat. I use a Habistat pulse thermostat which is very accurate along with this ceramic bulb.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
The ceramic bulb performs really well. It heats up to the required temperature really quickly and keeps the vivarium temperature at a steady level at all times as long as you have the correct thermostat.

| Value for money |
Good value for money generally although I have found prices to vary greatly. I purchased locally and thought it was a little expensive at 20 quid. They are effective though so worth the money overall.

1. Easy to install.
2. Very accurate at controlling temperature.
3. Comes with guarantee if you fill out the enclosed paperwork.

I still think they are a little expensive for what they are. Overall liked it though.
