A feisty beauty...

Comments This species happily seems to be making a comeback in the hobby. They are easy to keep and make an impressive display species. One of my favourite things about Haitians is the colouration of the males which far outshines that of the females. To me this tempers the worry that many have about ending up with a short lived male specimen. In line with their size (up to 9") they require good sized accommodation. Supply a hide and a waterbowl and do not bother with too much decor' as they are prone to ripping up any display you are likely to come up with. Although there is a variation in temperament from one specimen to the next it is not recommended that you try to handle this species as you are likely to get bitten. These are cheap to buy as slings and these are pretty hardy. They feed well and grow fast and as I said earlier these are one of those species where ending up with a male is likely to put a smile on your face.

Liked about it Attractive species, especially males.
Impressive size.
Calmer specimens will stay out in the open.
Cheap to buy and easy to feed and maintain.

Didn't like Can be highly defensive.
Nervous specimens tend to hide.

Large and Angry....

Comments the Haitian brown tarantula, also known the Phormictopus cancerides, this tarantula is highly defensive behavior and very aggressive if distured. These species are most found in warm, rainforest habitats. these tarantulas loves to stay inside their burrows. However, they will emerge in search of food.

The Haitian brown tarantula grow as large as 9inches in size. Although blue as spiderlings, adults exhibit purple or bronze coloration. Some Haitian browns may be dull in color, while others appear more vibrant. they are good feeders and will not refuse food. these tarantulas are good for experienced keepers, due to its nature. when disturbed if will readily flicked hairs. but overall is crazy tarantula but awesome to add if u like giants...

Liked about it 1.can grow 9" full grown
2.great coloration from male purplish and female, golden browns.
3.good feeders

Didn't like 1.can be hair flicker.
