Fantastic little lizard
| Comments |
Green anoles are an amazing little lizard, they are hardy and easy to buy but are often wild caught. If possible, try to source captive bred. If wild caught give these lizards time and patience to settle into their enclosure and monitor their feeding and behaviour. They are relatively easy to care for eating a wide range of livefood and some will even take fruit puree as an additional source of nutrition. Males are fairly easy to distinguish from females when mature having larger heads, femoral pores and hemipenal bulges and a large colourful dulaps for mating display. Anoles are extremely active and although small do need a reasonable size enclosure to remain healthy and having the correct lighting (including UVB) and heating is essential to their survival. Make sure you have a full diurnal setup to put these lizards in to give them the best quality of life - and they will provide you with hours of entertainment in return.

| Liked about it |
- Entertaining, active, inquisitive
- Very cheap to buy and readily available
- Hardy and suitable for beginners
|
| Didn't like |
- They're not as easy to handle as some species
- Not always captive bred
- Setup costs are far far higher than the cost of the lizard.

amazingly fun to keep

these lizards like a planted vivarium that has plenty of perches and a basking spot.i have never been nipped by one of these but they are sooo fast its a pain to catch to clean their vivarium.mine are active all day and most of the night.always hear them scrabbling around their vivarium.jumping and leaping from wall to wall.very easy to keep and quite easy to breed.only thing is the young need to be misted often as iv never seen them lap water ot of their bowl.can be prone to dehydration.best to get CB as WC tend to be heavily infested of worms and other parasites

Amazing lizards.

Maybe I'm easily amused but I could watch these guys for days and days. They're so small and fast, not aggressive at all and happy to live in a group. If you keep them in a glass exo terra they also lick CGD or a wee dab of honey off the glass too. Great to watch and easy to feed. Can also be housed with Fire Bellied Toads.
