Searched Lucky Reptile Herp Nursery II - Incubator in Reviews
I paid £100 - was disappointed - but it is the best one on the market that we have found for this price.
| Installation and Operation |
Installation is just unwrap plug in and done. The problem is trying to work out the correct temperature. So needs to be purchased and set up at least a few days before its needed to ensure it is the correct temperature.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
When using this you will need to read the temperature inside by using a Thermometer. Because the digital display on the unit is out by 2-3 even 4 degrees. Which is a pain - but once set up its ok.
|
| Value for money |
To get an incubator for £100 - is good as at present its the only one we know of that heats and cools! We have used it for Bearded dragon, leopard gecko, cham and water dragon eggs with excellent results.
|
| Liked about it |
1. It cools and heats - so if the room changes temp and gets hotter - the incubater turns on a fan itself and cools itself.
2. Nice light to see the eggs
3. See through panel at front so you can see the eggs.
|
| Didn't like |
1. Wich it was bigger as we have 4 of these now
2. Wish the digital temperature on the front of the incubater read correclty.!!!
3. Noise can be annoying at night - as we have only room for it in our bedroom (not the best move) lol
4. I currently us cricket tubes to hold the eggs - it would be nice if it came with storage for the eggs (e.g Plastic tubs-that fit well).

now i hhave 2 of these...
| Installation and Operation |
Well this is about as "plug and play" as it gets, just simply plug it in and its on. the temperature settings are easy too. one buttin for warmer one for colder. there is a third button for the internal light which is simply on or off. there is a slide in and out shelf which makes space/height adjustments easy too. the unit warms up quickly and cools down well too with temps ranging from 5 deg.C up to, i cant remember that lol but it is warm enough to incubate just about all eggs. instructions are straight forwards though the unit is self explainatory
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
this is one of those products that does pretty much what it says on the tin price is a bit steep i thought when there are other products on the market that do a similar job but i do think the herp nursery adds a look of professionalism to what we do.

VFM...well i have had a lot of success wuth this incubator, more than i have with others actually, though nothing's gauranteed. although the price of these is high compared to the others, i think that for ease of use, the styling, and my own personal success rate makes this worth the extra few quid, thats why i bought a second one
|
| Customer Support |
had one for a year and one for about a month and not had to call them once so i guess thats a testament to the build quality of these
|
| Liked about it |
so so easy to use straight forward incubator, cools when temps creep up on hot days too! looks good and the blue internal light is a nice touch
|

can sometimes be a little noisy (not like a road drill, but the fan can disturb your tv viewing :), and perhaps it could be a little bigger

Great little professional incubator for the small breeder
| Installation and Operation |
It comes fully installed and ready to plug in. It has two plugs, one mains, and one for a 12v (in car style charger) plug. The shelf can be slid into place at the height you like want. Everything else is fully assembled in the box and ready to plug in.
In order to set the temperature you use a button on the front. You can set a hot (for incubation), or cold (for hibernation/brumation) temperature. The readout is digital, and easy to see. It then displays the current temperature inside, without you having to open the door or fiddle around with extra thermometers. It has an internal light, which is activated by pushing a button.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
It does pretty much what you expect it to. It took a few hours to get to my optimum temperature (28C), but maintained it fairly well. I have had no problems so far with humidity. It's easy to see in to the eggs and easy to adjust the temperature if necessary without moving the eggs.
|
| Value for money |
It is quite an expensive product. There are many alternatives for a DIY incubator at a lot cheaper - but in recent years I have had a number of problems with humidity and ventilation, air stagnating in polybox or fish tank incubators which as our summers get hotter have led to some fly problems for me. As the incubator is likely to cost less than you will make selling in one season of breeding, even if you just have one pair of animals. I think it is an excellent investment, and guarantees a bit more peace of mind than a DIY project.
|
| Liked about it |
The top 3 things I like about this are
- Easily readable and adjustable temperature control that reaches optimum temperatures quickly, and stays stable
- Fan assisted ventilation, ensuring air does not stagnate, helping against conditions such as flies & mould problems
- Clear viewing window so you can see when something hatches without having to move the boxes in and out daily.

If this came in a jumbo mode about 3x the size I would be very impressed. It does not fit a massive amount of eggs in. Perhaps 80-100 small eggs at a push in the right size containers (corn snakes, bearded dragons, leopard geckos), but is likely to fit less than 20 larger eggs (royal pythons), and certainly would not fit a jumbo clutch such as burmese python eggs. It can also be quite noisy in normal mode because of the fan, I wouldn't want it in my bedroom whilst I was trying to sleep.

cheap, does the job
| Installation and Operation |
basic unpack out of box plug in and away you go, temprature is out by a few, but what do you expect for £100 cheapest one on the market, looks nice, got light inside that glows blue, there is a silencer on the fan so if keeping in bed room not so loud. has a shelve inside, it cools and heats so if very hot in the room the incubator will cool to the correct temprature.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
does what it says on the box it is a bit out on the temp as expected.
|
| Value for money |
i think it is good value as does what you want it to do. there isnt a cheaper one on the market it looks nice
|
| Liked about it |
the way it looks,
the silencer on the fan,
the price.

bright blue light on the front, kept in the bedroom and is really annoying some nights, would be good if there was a switch to have the option.

|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
will have to say that this product i found very hard to keep steady and good temps and lost a few clutches where my other clutches kept in a homemade incubater exactly the same did brilliantly
|
| Value for money |
very steep price and from my experience not worth it
|
| Liked about it |

great incubator for a small breeder
| Installation and Operation |
this incubator is very easy to set up. you just literally plug it in. it has 3 buttons on the front for adusting temps up and down, a power switch and a light switch which has in a blue viewing bulb. it has 2 modes, normal and energy saver.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
i have had good success with this product and it does exactly what it is designed to do. it has a front perspex panel to allow viewing with minimal disturbance to the eggs and without having to open the door to do so.
|
| Value for money |
personally i feel for the size it is, it is a bit on the pricey side.
|
| Customer Support |
not had to call them.
|
| Liked about it |
easy to use
nice design
light is a nice touch
|
| Didn't like |
i found the temp reading on the front of the incubator does not match the internal temperature when tested, it tends to vary by 3-4C between the two so needed a bit of callabration.

The "Alienware" of Incubators
| Installation and Operation |
Mains plug or 12v cigarette lighter (for transporting). Temp inside is a couple degrees lower than the display indicates, this is outlined in the instructions. A digital thermometer to calibrate to required temps is a must.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
So simple, plug it in, give it a few days at desired temp and then calibrate (31C for Corns works out to ~28.5 in the polybox on the top shelf).
Love the blue light, makes it look flashier.
|
| Value for money |
Maybe around ?30 more than the hovabator depending where you shop, but well worth it. The hobavator does not cool if temps creep way too high in the summer. The Herp Nursery will shut off the heat and turn on the chiller if temps get too high, preventing cooking of the eggs.
|
| Customer Support |
I've not needed any customer support so far. It's straightforward to use, and as long as you bear in mind the temp difference in the chamber versus on the display.
|
| Liked about it |
1) Looks like my Alienware laptop! :D
2) No longer worried about high summer temperature spikes. Peace of mind = Priceless.
3) Set it, put the eggs in, leave it. Easy.
|
| Didn't like |
Cannot think of anything I would change, bar making the temp on display reflect actual internal temps. I believe this flaw is due to the nature of construction (temp probe NOT in main compartment).
I would definitely buy this again.

good incubator for the small hobby breeder
| Installation and Operation |
ready to go straight out the box just need to plug it in lol easy to use digital display also has and internal light which lets you see the eggs inside without having to open the door
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
i expected it the perform better with the constant temperature as with my one its can be upto 5c lower than the displayed temperature which is a pain but it does mention this in the instructions that there can be a few degree's difference from internal to the displayed temperature due to room temperature etc..
|
| Value for money |
bit expensive really but suppose it is more reliable than some homemade ones
|
| Liked about it |
ideal size for the small amount of eggs i have cresties n gargoyles looks cool and its easy to use and its got a nice quiet fan

could be more accurate temperature wise and a bit bigger

Great for the first time or small breeder
| Installation and Operation |
installation is very simple you just basically plug it in and set the temperature.
it has a digital display of the temperature, plus and minus buttons for setting the temperature and and on off light switch for illuminating the inside.
|
| Performance vs. Expectations |
the incubator holds the temperature well, although the digital temperature display is not always accurate so you have to calibrate it with a digital thermometer inside the incubator as you do with a thermostat.
i thought that the light is excellent as i can view my eggs without having to open the door. overall i feel that it is well worth buying.
|
| Value for money |
if you look around you can find one for about £90, and i feel that this is a great value incubator,it does look smaller in the pictures, although the actual product is small there is actually a lot of room inside. also it looks nice to so its not going to stand out in your room as an ugly piece of kit.
|
| Liked about it |
1. compact but yet spacious inside the chamber
2. illuminating light function so you can view your eggs
3. keeps temperature well
4. great for a small breeder
5. looks good.
|
| Didn't like |
the digital temperature display is not correct and because of this you have to buy a separate thermometer to check the temperature.
