Small, pretty and affordable.

The Nelsons Milk is a very pretty milksnake originating from Mexico. It has wide red bands and a thin white band bordered by fairly thick black bands...There is also an Albino form. The Nelsons is very similar to the Sinaloan Milk and it has often been suggested that most Nelsons have some Sinaloan in them nowadays? Very easy to care for a Nelsons will live its whole life quite happily in a three foot viv, or appropriatly sized Rub. They do not need lighting just a heat mat covering around one third of the viv floor and stated to keep temps up at around 27c. They are very secretive snakes like most Milks and appreciate lots of hides and an aspen substrate to bury around in.

When young they are fast, nervous and flighty, musking and occasionaly nipping when handled. As adults they loose the nipping but can still be very fast.

Nelsons are good reliable feeders on pinky mice when young and will upgrade to take half grown to small mice when adult..I would never feed them rats, unless it was pups or fuzzies as rats are just too big for Milks.

Milksnakes are usually active during the day and definitely out every night, their beautiful colouration make them a joy to own and observe.

Although often said to be cannibalistic i have found Nelsons to be very easy to pair and breed.

A very good second snake, and definitely one to be added to any collection.
