I currently have this in my Crested Gecko's Vivarium, and love it! Was very surprised with how much substrate came out of that one small block! Very easy to use, just pop it into some water in a bowl and watch it explode!! (Well not literally)One block covered the bottom of my 45x45 viv about 4inces thick.
It holds humidity in the vivarium excellent! Even with a heat mat underneath, all it needs is a misting at the evening and that holds until the next evening!
The price was also very reasonable! My local pet shops sells them for 2 for £5 so a bargain!

i started using this substrate when i first started with inverts and like how it looked in an enclosure and how it helped keep the humidity up for rainforest species. I personal think it looks and preforms better when mixed with plantation soil and moss. if there was one problem with it it would be the price, especially in pet shops.

A good product...but shop around!

I now use this substrate for all of my inverts. It is easy to prepare and one block makes a surprising amount. When using it for tarantulas it must be allowed to dry out which can take some time. For snails I use it damp and replace it weekly. I have had far less issues with infestation than I have had with other substrates. My main problem is the price which varies hugely depending where you buy it. There are other manufacturers out there with the same product who's prices are cheaper and less prone to fluctuation.

Very Good Product

This overall is a very good product. I have used this alot and find it one of the best substrates at holding humidity without a high impaction risk (unlike orchid bark). The product is very easy to use and doesnt take long to prepare. Simply soak the brick and watch it expand.
And it looks totally natural.
