Great for everything!
Comments
There are quite a few products similar to this but it happens that I find this to often be cheaper than independent producers, It is great value for money getting around 8 litres of soil for a couple of quid. I find though that if you add the full 3 litres of water as it describes that you end up with a rather damp substrate not suitable for use in enclosures that you want to keep humidity down in. Sooo I tend to add only 2-2.5 litres of hot water then stick it in the airing cupboard for a few hours. Then I use it for everything, snakes, lizards, invertebrates etc. it is perfect!

1. Easy to make up, all you need it water and a bucket. 2. Very rarely have I found it to contain or harbour 'cleaner' invertebrates. 3. Useful for everything from incubation substrate to an excavation site for fossorial species.

I do not like the way the label is glued to the block as I do not generally want a lump of glue in my soil, but saying that I am pretty sure a company like Exo-Terra would not dare use any dangerous substances to animals.

excellent product.a small block once you add water it expands to several liters of substrate.this stays moist for a very long time.when used with other products like gravel bed and sphagnum moss then you can have a whole eco system going!

brick o' soil
Comments
This product is fantastic, i use it for my snails and they love burying in it. its easy to use and saves trying to store bags of soil around the house. however it does stay damp for quite some time, which doesnt effect me but some people may have to leave it to dry out overnight.

Better than it looks
Comments
this product is defernatly better than it looks, it holds moisture so well and keeps humidity up high. its ability to hold in humidity also make it a good product for an incubation medium for hatching eggs as it holds in moisture very well. it is very easy to use all you need to do is follow the instructions on the back of the packet which pretty much say apply water and allow to soak it up. after this is done it works easy and can be put to the use it was intended for.

A nice looking, functional product.
Comments
We use this in several vivs and it works a treat. It looks nice, helps hold humidity and doesn't smell. Before soaking it is easily stored and when soaked produces a large amount of substrate.
It is easily poo-picked and stays looking clean and fresh for ages.

Its superb value for money, you get a huge amount of substrate for very little money
Easy to store and easy to rehydrate. Just add water and wait for twenty minutes!

I like this product, it is so easy to use.
Follow the instructions on the packet, put the brick in a bucket, add the recommended amount of water and wait the specified length of time. Break the brick up , grab a big handful of soil and squeeze the water out of it. You are then left with some nice quality soil.
I use this with my amphibians as it helps retain humidity and i find that live plants grow well in it.
The price for a brick of this soil is very good. If you find it in a pack of 3 then the value for money is even better as it is normally less than the price for 3 individual bricks.
One brick will produce just over 8 litres of substrate.

Liked about it
Takes up less space than the equivalent amount of loose, bagged soil.
If you only need a small amount of soil just cut the brick in half and use that.
This substrate is a natural substrate with no added impurities.

I like this product, it's cheap and versatile. Sometimes you could do with a bigger brick.

Good Value!
Comments
Plantaion soil is great for animals that need more humidity, it holds alot of moisture and completely soaks it up not leaving puddles. When used in the enclosure it makes it look more natual than other subtrates. It is really easy to use! Just put the brick in a bucket with water and wait 20min and thats it :) It lasts a long time and it a really cheap way to keep your tank clean!
This is also very good for keeping away the smell of poo.

Good quality and seems to last a long time. Keeps away the smell of poo, and can be used for more than just substrates e.g layboxes or hides.
|
Didn't like
Has a slight artificial smell, but it does fade away after a few days.
If bits of food fall onto it, it does go mouldy.
Can get stuck to food, resulting in it getting digested.
