Default Staffy bitch for re-homing!!!!!

Hi,

I have been asked to re-home a family members Staffordshire bull terrier bitch.

Gem is 2yrs 6 months old and a dark brindle and white staffordshire bull terrier, spayed, microchipped and very excitable unless given long walks. Friendly and 'enthusiastic' with new people but shows no aggression and is fine with cats and other dogs. She loves to travel in the car and will sit for hours whilst you drive. She walks well using a lead and harness.
Gem will require 'some' training to become a settled family dog and would prefer to live with older kids, if any, and have a lot of love and attention as I think this is something that has been lacking in her life up until now.

I've known 'Gem' since she was 7 weeks old.
She lived with my brother-in-law and his wife until November '07 when they had a baby. The 'wife' got a case of the freaks and although Gem showed no aggression towards the baby insisted she go to a new home. Gem was re-homed with another sister-in-law, my OH's sister, unfortunately her and her husband have now seperated and neither can take Gem where they are going.

Gem is currently here with us as we couldn't see her go into kennels or be passed onto some idiot which is where she would have ended up.

We are unable to keep her as we already have three giant breed dogs.
They all get along and are fine together. We just can't afford or manage another dog at the moment.

Gem will bring with her her crate, her poncy pink bowls and pink collar, her lead, her harness, loads of cushions and toys and chews.
She will also have a full 15kg bag of her complete food.
My brother-in-law has the microchip papers so that a new owner can register her to themselves and he is happy to give them to me.

Anyone interested in Gem will have to have experience with staff's and she will only go to the 'right' person. We are prepared to keep her if we have to but really she needs a family 'of her own' and we just cant' give her the attention just now.

A re-homing fee will be required simply to put off the FTGH brigade.

Dawn

I'll get some on tonight but it will be late as I'm very busy today.
She is amazing and since she has been here, only 2 days, has not made a mess or shown any aggression to man nor beast.
She is great to walk and is even good with the rats.

It will be a shame if I can't find her a home. She 'will' stay here but she won't get the attention she really deserves.

Awww it's always sad to see such a nice dog needing a home but when it's a staffy it really tugs my heart strings, I would have her like a shot but my bitch wouldn't take to another adult (or even puppy if it came to that) she is very set in her ways now.

I really hope you get a good home for Gem she deserves it, if I hear of anyone looking for a companion I will definately let you know xxxxxx's for Gem

Pics at last.

Well the longer she is here the more we're finding out about her. Although we've known her since a pup we haven't had a lot to do with her until now.
We've found out she is very excitable but well behaved. She jumps up if allowed but will get down when told a few times. She would be too 'in your face' for young kids. Ok with sensible teenagers providing anyone has one of those very rare species.
She doesn't barge passed in the doorway and is fine with other dogs and cats. She would play like a nutter with dogs though if allowed and would take a while to settle with them. She shows no aggression towards anything and is quite submissive.
She doesn't harrass any small animals although I haven't had the rodents out fo their cages with her.

If I didnt' have the other three I would certainly keep her here. She is absolutely wondeful and with a little training will make an even better pet than she is already.

I've had a few people interested it's just getting the 'right' home for Gem and not letting her go to a home I kknow she would be passed on from.
She isnt' going to go to anyone with small kids and if they have other dogs they will need to bring them to meet her before I let her go.
Also it is going to depend on their treament of her when they meet her.
Too soft and she will take over.
Basically she needs someone who has experience of this breed or a similar breed.
