if you don't mind waiting.. i will have a few litters this year..

dougal has been a busy boy, so will hopefully have angora hets from, albino female, sandy female, silver female, chocolate female and polecat female. if nothing else then at least i will find out if dougal carries anything much!

should also have ferrets without angora blood in.. polecats, silvers, and " not-sure-what-elses-as-ferret-colour-genetics-is-still-new-area "

sure

they are not yet as common over here, there have been a lot of ups and downs in the history of angoras, with many ferret fanciers thinking they are the devil incarnate.. there is a lot of mis information about them around though, and as ever, on the net, a lot of hype and horror from people who are just following the crowd..

full angora jills, or so am i am told, do not produce enough milk for the babies, het angora jills apparently do.. this is one of the only rumours about the angoras that i have found most people agree on..

full angora males are said to sometimes be poor breeders... although i have not found this with dougal so far.. he certainly has the drive, and with two females visably carrying his young, he is not a jaffa at least!

angoras have also been said to have health issues arising from the lack of undercoat, and also the fur in the nose. although this seems to be more anecdotal than factual, as does the rumour that angoras have nastier tempers.. dougie is the softest ferret on the planet i think lol..

as with any morph animal, there is a lot of inbreeeding in their pasts, this may have led to health or temprement issues i guess..

hence why dougie is going to normal haired females, as an outcross. some of his young with be swapped with other angora owners who are breeding this year, to give us more of a gene pool to work with. using het females, to full males, or het females to het males, there should be some nice strong healthy full angoras about next year, but do remember, the full angora jill may need assistance raising a litter, and thus you should think about breeding carefully when using a full angora jill.

angoras in the USA fetch anything up to $600.. or once, in the UK, by comparison, they are cheap at £150-£175 !!!!

this is dougal, back last year

and then this year
