it is illegal to own a wild bird
In all fairness I did have a chick but I did not intentionaly go out to find the chick my cat had it and as there were no rescue centers willing to take it on I decided to as I no alot about birds.
Im just saying you should think long and hard before taking on any bird takes up alot of time and commitment fletchlings need feeding every 15 minutes.

Look im not even gonna bother replying to you anymore as you jump onto someones thread................try to accuse them of doing something illegal

its only illegal if you intentially go out of your way to steal an egg or chick from a nest if the eggs or the chicks have been orphaned and its a known fact they have then it isnt illegal to take them and try and do your best for them

granted they may not survive but at least they have a better chance of survial if someone tries hey

so yeah i will get off my soap box now

Thanks melinda

Why do threads have to get turned into bomb sites

fair enough advice is ok but for people to come along and acuse people of doing illegal things there is no need

the O/P was adviced on what was legal and what wasnt by another poster and the O/P already knew that

O/P has been adviced to get intouch with local vets and bird rescues which im sure they will do..............if it was that illegal why would bird rescues and such be glad of the offer of help from people trying to rear orphaned birds ?

please just leave it at that no as i think the O/P knows what they are on about and can and cant do

Q I have found an injured bird, can I look after it?

A Yes, but you must release it when it has recovered. In the case of Schedule 4 birds* you must notify the DOE and register the bird.

not only is it an offence to take British wild birds, but keeping them is also illegal.
this was taken from the RSPB's birds and the law

I dont want to argue but if you research it yourself you will find the info
