The OP and people responding to this post should be aware that under the CRoW Act it is illegal to disturb any birds while nesting, nest building or rearing young or to accept young birds that are known to have been removed from a wild nest

I had thread asking same thing but i can't remember where i posted it though! There's a section on corvids and the people on it give great advise.
Frogeye 1050 it's possible to get captive bred corvids. I think that was the reason the op asked on here, if they were going nest raiding there would be no need for them to ask on here where they could get one!

Never said they were and was not an accusation of any kind. Merely that it would be very easy for someone who was not aware it was an offence (and you have to admit there would be plenty given the amount of members who don't know the laws regarding native reptiles and amphibians) to go and get one in the hopes of providing the OP with what they want.

I would rather post stating the legal position and appear picky than risk a member unknowingly (or indeed knowingly) falling foul of the law.

No offence intended and hope the OP finds the bird they are after. I have always fancied a jackdaw myself

No offence taken i would love a jackdaw masel and posted question on forum i put up for the op. The only way i'd be able to get one would be to hope someone would hand an orphaned baby in at vets but round here that would never happen too many keepers and farmers that would sooner put a bullet in something like that! I understand why you said about the laws.

I used to have a tame jackdaw. Probably got some photos in an album. Jacko would ride to school on my son'd backpack when he cycled the mile to the village school, then fly home again. At 3.30, he would disappear and fly to the school to ride home with him again on his satchel.
I didn't rear Jacko, he just appeared one day already tame.

The advice i got when i asked on here and other forum was that the best thing to do is put the word about at all your local vets and wildlife rescue centres saying you would be interested in taking an orphan bird. I doubt you would get an orphan raven unless you bought a captive bred corvid. Try here Corvid Aid | Corvid and wildlife rescue i had a load of stuff about rearing them and also where to buy them but typical i deleted it not long ago or i coulda given you few places to look! All i did was google captive corvids or captive crows
