Default Persian cat for sale £150 (Herefordshire)

I am putting this up for my sister who lives in Herefordshire (Ross-on-Wye).
Black and white Persian male cat, he has been castrated, lovely friendly cat who is about a year old.

My sister is having some rough times...she is not on the internet so if anyone is interested and can give this house cat a good home please contact me and I will forward on her phone number.

I dont have any pictures of him he is black and white with the squished up nose of a persian cat!!
She got him from a breeder but I dont know which one (she will be able to tell you) and has been told he would be a good show cat.
I think she paid a lot more for him but needs a fairly quick sale.

MUST be a good home.

she may have trouble getting that amount for him as he has been done

there are plenty of people who would take him into a good home but dont think they would pay that amount for a done cat no matter how much he cost to buy

good luck finding him a home

If you haven't already, please get back in touch with the breeder - any decent breeder would be happy to take him back, and if he does have show potential then it's possible he will find a new home quite easily (if he sells for more than it cost to keep him, then the breeder might agree to pass any of the "profit" back to your sister).

Sadly young adult persians are not in short supply, so you may not find that selling him gets you the good home you've been looking for - but the breeder will have more contacts within the breed and more enquiries for show cats so is more likely to be able to help.

Good luck.

wish i could have been more subtle than my 1st post

but yes i totally agree the best place to go first would be his original breeder and seek help from them

She has had some interest from an ad I put on preloved for her...but I will suggest going back to the breeder if she has no luck...I have no idea about prices for cats as I only keep moggies...I think persians are about the ugliest breed going and could never understand her liking them!!!

Each to there own I guess!!

note..I am not saying he is not a lovely cat just not my cuppa!!

Just on a side note of interest..I think the breeder she got him from was breeding persians with odd eyes and going through the process of trying to get them registered to be able to show them as odd eyes is apparently not a good thing in show cats.

If she gets desperate and cant find a good home for him I will suggest she offer him free to a good home.

Her poo bag of a husband ran off with someone to Ireland so she is struggling with three children and quite a few animals...she loves them to bits and they are all in the best of health but she worries she would not be able to pay any bit vet bills she may get.

She has rehomed a few already but finds it really hard...she thought she might be able to get some money for this boy as all the others have been free to a good home.

I had her in tears on the phone tonight she really does not want to have to part with anymore of her pets but I think she has too much on her plate and it is taking its toll on her.

All very upsetting I wish I was closer to her really.

I'm really sorry that your sister has found herself in this situation.

However, as a breeder myself I would be more than a bit narked if someone who I sold a kitten to was selling it on without my knowledge, because every kitten that left my house the owners were asked to come back to me if they couldn't keep that cat at any timein the future. Of course not every breeder feels like that and I've come across a few in my time who didn't want to know once they'd got the money for the kitten.

However, it would only be common courtesy to go back to the breeder to see if she wants to take the cat back, or wants to find the home for it.

Young adult Persians are not in short supply and Emma is right that she may struggle to find someone prepared to pay that sort of price for a year old cat. Most pedigree breeds have a rescue scheme where people who are prepared to take an adult cat will go to find one and they will be asked to give a donation rather than pay a figure as large as £150.

I've never re-homed any cat, be it a 1 year or a 12 year old where the owner has wanted money for it. They've just wanted a good home.

Not sure what you mean about odd eyes - odd-eyed Persians have been bred and recognised for years now and the only longhaired cats where odd eyes were trying to get recognition were Turkish a few years ago.

What your sister could do is contact either one of the Persian Breed Cat Clubs or her local area cat club and ask if they have anyone on their rescue list looking for a Persian. Every breed club runs a rescue scheme, but so do many all-breed area clubs. Our local club does this and the girl who is in charge of it keeps lists of cats needing homes and people looking for specific breeds and puts the two in touch when they match up.
