never actually had them before. Getting bored of only have rats and mice, just love rodents so want as many different kinds as i can get

why the hell does everyone want degus all of a sudden?

theyre great escape artists! currently have 5 runnin about the rodent room!

What cage have you got planned for them? Only asking as I used to keep them, and know how bored they can get in an inadequate cage. They seem to prefer climbing height to digging depth, although they will dig a little if given the opportunity; they don't dig like gerbils do though. Mine used to live in a 3' x 2' x 6'. Like chinchillas, they are incredibly active, and it's cruel to keep them in something too small, as it suppresses their natural, active behaviour:
