Im haveing a new dog on Sunday, and 18 month old bith Rottwiler called Lola. Has anyone got any thin 'doggie' they dont want for a small fee?

What ever you do don't buy a cheap lead or harness, my friend had one of those extendable ones from a pound stretcher type place and it broke on a main road, luckily the dog stayed on the pavement and didn't stray towards the road but she was missing for 24 hours as they couldn't keep up with her to catch her and she got away

Thanx for that advice, i did buy one from quite a cheap shop, but have not brought a much better stronger one from a good pet shop.

I use pony extendable lunge lines for my big breed dogs until I can be sure they will come back when told.

It's just like a dog extendable lead only a lot thicker, stronger and longer.
I've had mone now for over 10 yrs and it's been used for the horses, the dogs and a goat at one time.

I also use chcek chains rather than a flat collar, until they behave on a flat that is, as they can be quite stubborn and dominant.

At 18months old hopefully she has been taught 'manners' otherwise you could have a difficult job on your hands.

I know many stupid people that don't behave badly!!!!!

I have a rottie who will be 5 this June. Youve gotta have alot of patience and make sure from day one that they know you are BOSS.

I would recommend a Gentle Leader or a Halti collar, they are great for making the dogs walk to heal. Dont use a Harness or try and walk her on a normal collar, they are too strong around their shoulders and neck.

Is she a rescue? My Tyson was a rescue and he has turned out beautifully. Treated right they are the most gentle dogs you can have.

Yes she is a rescue. I have been to see her every day since I said Id have her. She walks quite well and does seem to have some manners, although she is very playful when i first take her out. Its taken me a couple of days to get everything that she will need. I was building a big six foot gate to put on my garden until ten o clock last night!

Going home now, and I dont have any internet access there. But if anyone has any help or advice to give me about my new dog, that would be great.
